Dragon Ball Super Episode 131 Full Reaction

Releasing this today instead of Thursday since Dragon Ball Super is leaving Hulu this Saturday.

Comments

U have singed away what happend after the tournoment🤦🏻

michael

Let's be honest jiren won the battle against Goku. Even if Goku lost his power that is still part of the fight

michael

I want you guys to come back to my comment in a few weeks, when you understand who I'm referencing. Only then... only then, you will understand.

Shadowpunch13

yeah can't believe we didn't think about Hit for top 5. He would be in for both of us 🤗

Bethany and Ken

😜

Bethany and Ken

Interesting putting Toppo in top 5 for being a good antagonist like Bethany did for Rebrianne. Still can't believe she did that 😂

Bethany and Ken

It was our pleasure 🙂

Bethany and Ken

Honestly never thought we'd get to this point of reacting to any anime. We just never were drawn to it which is why we started with abridged in the first place. Then just really started to like the characters so decided to give the actual series a try. I think it's probably one of the best animes to get newcomers into the genre 🙂

Bethany and Ken

yes, tournament of power did not disappoint. 🤩

Bethany and Ken

That would be a fun twist. But can't remember, did he specifically say all universes from the tournament? 🤔

Bethany and Ken

Epic top 5

Bethany and Ken

yeah Hit would be in our top 5. He's great.

Bethany and Ken

oh wow. You really did like Toppo having him in the top 5 🤩

Bethany and Ken

Later today we will have the Super Heroes movie and then next week we will start with OG DB

Bethany and Ken

Love seeing that Bulma got the number 1 spot 🤩

Bethany and Ken

haha, no worries. We appreciate you sharing your honest thoughts with us 🙂

Bethany and Ken

It’s good to have costume changes for at least SOME characters. Although, it’d be nice to see that big brown cot make a brief comeback.

k c

At the end where goku and vegeta were fighting is a call back to when they first fought on earth!!!

SlyFlorush

This has been an incredible journey with you guys, from DBZA to DBZK and now wrapping up DBS, I enjoyed every reaction from you guys! I can’t wait for you guys to watch the two Super movies, and for sure I can’t wait for Daima since I have yet to watch it myself. I guess my Top 5 would be Goku, Vegeta, 17, Frieza and Hit, Super did real well with these characters! And btw this tournament is what gave birth to the nickname MVP 17 cause of how many times he came in clutch during the tournament

J Sal

Rede who cares lmaooo you're in these comments complaining about anything and everything.

fernando garcia

you know, I've watched the T.O.P. several times, I gotta say...I've never looked at it the way you just articulated. All these different warriors gained amazing power through different modes. Roshi's turtle hermit philosophy, Ribrianne's love, Saiyan emotions, Vegeta's pride, Top's justice, Jiren's lack of trust...I always looked at the T.O.P. as a story about "trust" since they kept using that word in the last handful of episodes. Goku has to put trust in his greatest enemy Frieza and Frieza has to trust Goku if they want their universe to survive. But seeing your perspective adds another layer to it that I hadn't seen. I will definitely be looking for that in my next watch through...whoever the next reactor will be lol..Thanks

Nate Terry

Ken with that abridged humor 👌 💯 😆 🤣

Jesus Leos

It's a bit of a shame they changed Frieza's dialogue with 17 in the beginning. In the Japanese version Frieza said "You honor me with your trust."

John Huizer

Roshi, Goku, Frieza, 17, & Top. Roshi is my main man. anytime Roshi gets screen time and it's not perverted I'm all in. Goku's Ultra Instinct was so bad ass to see. the animation of goku's movements in ultra instinct were insane. Frieza has the best dialogue and by far the best villain of all DBZ. I play him in every budokai game they make. 17 has cool powers and abilities. My only wish is that he stayed in his black Tshirt with red scarf. Top because he had more personality than Jiren had and was really the "antagonist" of the final act that i cared about seeing defeated. His decision to throw away his justice for survival needed to be rebuked and Vegeta was the perfect foil for him. I get why he did it though....to him, a true hero would sacrifice himself to save others...with his universe on the line, and a destroyer god power up would tip the scale, he sacrificed his justice (he would see it as an act of heroism) to save his universe. Of course, Vegeta teaching him a lesson about pride and princple was needed. I enjoyed it. Can't wait for whats next!

Nate Terry

Lol yea but unless they change it up which I hope they will

Jeffrey F

I'm still surprised to this day but many don't know Goku's last name is Son. Even if Son is in front of his name, that's how the Japanese are. The last name goes first, then the first name. Son Goku, Son Gohan, Son Goten.

Jason Rogue

Spoilers for Daima, come on mate.

Jason Rogue

I agree with what Ken says about Jiren. A lot of people found him a shallow character cause it makes no sense how strong he is or why from a writing perspective. But that's also the reason why people DO like him because despite all of that he was simply a spectacle to watch! The way he just absolutely dog walked our main characters with ease just had a different feel to it from any previous antagonist from Super or even Z.

Hayden Morris

Death battles are honestly just rage bait, if it’s a Dragon ball character they lose. Death battle doesn’t even try to be unbiased anymore they showed that off well in Bardock V Omni Man

REDE

GO BROLY GO BROLY GO BROLY COME ON BROLY 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥

REDE

I don’t understand why people complain about stakes in a show that literally started as a gag comic. There were little to no stakes to begin with but nobody cares because who tf watches DB for the stakes 💀 the fights and character relationships/dynamics are the best aspects of the shows writing objectively. If you are looking for stakes I recommend Attack on Titan or Death Note. God forbid they use the DRAGON BALLS in DRAGON BALL

REDE

Ahh yes dbfz : Brody, a true classic.

REDE

Daima feels more like an au to super like GT because so much is retconed that Daima literally feels like an alternate version of the cast. Vegeta getting ssj3 and shin being unfused ruins BOG which takes place after Daima and yet Vegeta isn’t able to “reach” ssj3 after seeing Bulma struck and Supreme Kai are still fused in BOG.

REDE

Yeah and with 200 eps at a 2 ep a week upload rate it would take them 100 weeks or a year and a half 💀

REDE

Cant wait for Daima and the Super movies

Kev

At 10:57 when Frieza calls Goku Sayian, lol Ken's reaction to Frieza calling Goku something other than monkey and being surprised, only for Frieza to call him monkey straight away after that. Frieza always has to find a way to be rascist against Sayians I quite like how the tournament of power's main theme was showing everyone's source of power and what each character or universe see as true strength and these different ideologies coming against each other in the tournament and then some even having a effect on a certain character or universe and changing them like Jiren adopting trust in battle by the end or Vegeta deciding to go his own separate path from Goku and not go for Ultra instinct.

Zaid

This was an amazing journey! From DBZA to DBS! If you'd guys like there's still more Dragon Ball Super content but as far as anime, this is it. I heavily recommend watching the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie after this, then reacting to any YouTube videos that cover the manga chapters of the Moro Arc and Granola Arc which take place after Broly. Then after that there is the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero which was the final movie for DBS which i think will be both Ken and Bethany's favorite since its a movie that focuses mostly on Gohan and Piccolo!

Shawn Smith

Thank you so much for this wonderful reaction! I really enjoyed it. Dragonball Super had such an amazing finale. I loved the way they ended it. I feel overwhelmed with emotions just like 7 years ago when the finale first aired. It was such an amazing time with people all over the world gathering in public squares to watch these episodes on a big screen. The atmosphere was unlike anything I had ever felt before. The Goku/Frieza/17 team-up was everything I could have wished for. I love what they did with Jiren at the end and how much the Pride Troopers and Universe 11 cared for each other. Your review and thoughts at the end were really well done and I enjoyed every moment of it. Thank you again for all your amazing reactions for this show. I'm very excited to hear you're planning to watch the movies Broly and Super Hero as well. Both are amazing movies with new stories and a lot of action-packed eye candy and I like them both for different reasons. Thank you again. Take care and I wish you all the best!

John Huizer

I want to thank you both for taking time out of your lives and watching this series. There are a lot of reactors who start with abridged, but stop after that and never give the actual series a chance. I'm sure it means a lot to people that you decided to continue and stick with it with Kai, and Super. Now even going back with DBZ Kakarot to see the sagas you only saw in Abridged. I'm excited to see how you feel about og Dragon ball, and Daima. And maybe when you've finished all of that the Super anime might finally animate the rest of the manga. (I doubt it tho)

feltskate ._.

I'm catching up on this journey (just got to Trunks powering up against Goku Black) but I hope y'all had fun with the Tournament of Power!

Ceeneon

& yea now yall can check out the Dragonball super movie Broly & Super hero movie out too

Jeffrey F

Yall both gonna have more hella fun watching OG Dragonball lol

Jeffrey F

Yeah I see what you mean but those 2 arcs after the tournament of power did expand universe 7 a lot more by exploring way more planets and races also showing much more of the galactic patrol and how it works in universe 7 considering all these universes are meant be really big so those 2 arcs did make universe 7 feel more bigger than before.

Zaid

Great analysis! (I like you guys putting Ribrianne on the list XD) I remember my first reaction to this episode 10 yrs ago was like, "Goku fighting alongside Frieza in Super Saiyan 1 form?!" The same form that was designed to beat Frieza? And Android 17—the android originally created to assassinate Goku—fighting alongside him to protect the universe? If someone told me this ten or fifteen years ago, I would’ve thought they were tripping. The final scene was amazing, especially the transition from Jiren to Goku. It reminded me of the first time we saw Jiren—a poker-faced character with no emotion. Now, influenced by Goku and Universe 7, he’s shown some real character development. It made me realize that the core of Dragon Ball has never been just about fighting, but about the connections we build with each other. Overall, this has been such an amazing journey. Watching yall every Tuesday and Thursday was fun as hell and I’m super excited to dive into the next Dragon Ball journey! (By the way, I highly recommend checking out Dragon Ball GT as well.)

Osio

Hope you both enjoyed super. I would recommend the Broly movie next. Also check out Dragon Quest The Adventures Of Dai. Trust me you won't regret it.

Mosh Mia

None of whom however compare to the GOAT, Hybis.

Shadowpunch13

One thing to think about by the way which everyone thought about atleast once. Whis once told us there used to be 18 universes and now there are 12. If 17s wish was to bring back the erased universes. I kept thinking omg what if those other universes fall under that wish.

Jehanzeb Ahmed khan

By the way that ending, that pose in the rocky area between goku and vegeta was a like for like recreation of the original goku vs vegeta way back in dragon ball z in the saiyan saga

Chad Mancillas

I mean back in the Day when we were watching this in sub, even before the Final episode was Released everyone kinda knew that they would wish all the universes back. Coz Characters like Jiren and Hit are the Biggest Rivals of Goku so it wouldn't make sense for Dragon Ball to take them away for Good

Vinayak Murthy

Oh fine. I'll share my top 5 for Super too. 1) Monaka: For being the MVP of the U6 tournament and being the most powerful being in U7. He also has a job, something most in this series can't keep up with. 2) Fake Vegeta: Was the main villain in the underrated arc of Dragon Ball, and did the whole "copycat protagonist" thing way better than Goku Black or Zamasu ever did. 3) Oracle Fish: The story of Super would've never started w/o him and the premonition he gave to Beerus about the Super Saiyan God. Can't leave him out. 4) Catopesra: The only good character that preached about justice and love. Toppo and Ribrianne were honorable mentions, but they could never hold a candle to this man. 5) Tagoma: Frieza wouldn't have uncovered his Golden form if not for his training with Tagoma. That means we would never have gotten him back in the T.o.P nor won the T.o.P in the first place. Therefore, Tagoma is the most important and impactful villain in the franchise. There is no question.

JT

LMAO

Hohoho

I think you guys missed the part where 17 actually got his cruise 😭 the theme song at the end is a good sum up but the scenes in it are the real gold

Jehanzeb Ahmed khan

Oh since we sharing top 5 characters: 1.Vegeta 2. Goku 3. Hit 4. Trunks 5. Goku Black I still believe that the Future Trunks arc was one of the best arcs and it gave us good characters. And Hit is Hit. What can I say

Ash

Well it’s had been a long time since then so your probably right. Though it’s hard to believe people though Jiren would win.

Ash

im saddened this journery with yall is over, but i really must insist you watch the Super Broly movie before starting Daima, yes Diama technically begins soon after the Buu saga, but still... also idk if anyone ever mentioned before, but the language of the gods, is basically just them speaking backwards

Justin Lira Aguero

My Top 5 favorite Characters in Super: ~Goku/Bulma/Frieza/Toppo/Vegeta~ Honorable Mentions would be: 18&17/Zamasu/Caulifla & Kale/Whis, Vados & Beerus & Champa & Trunks. Champa is just too much of a chunky adorable cat

Asuka Yousei 妖精帝國

I personally think that Super 17 is way better than Super 17

Big Cheese

I agree Beth & Ken i was upset initially at the 17's wish too but once we were informed that this was a universal test it made everything much better for me. Also a really deep test dare i say, that can go into such a great spiritual conversation. OMG tho i can't believe we are the end of all this! I am so OVERHYPED for you two to watch OG Dragon Ball. It is a really different vibe with that show & is incredibly fulfilling. You two are going to LOVE OG Dragon Ball! So happy to go with this journey with you two & guys are the kindest, cutest, funniest content creators! You both deserve so much praise. 💜

REDE

Broly movie Thursday?

REDE

Would be hype

REDE

Many, including myself knew that this ending was coming, sort of felt cheap, because yes, it loses all the stakes that we were presented, but it's an ending I'm haply with. Meaning when Super gets brought back and if the do continue it Tournament of Power 2 will have all these characters back and show up what we want to see. Caulifla going to SS3, Kale able to fully harness her power, Cabba possibly going beyond 3 and more moments with him and Vegeta, Jiren being an actual part of the Pride Troopers. Anything can happen, Should we expect a movie Thursday? As I'm sure you've possibly already seen both by now. Especially can't wait for those so you can finally see everything that Sparking Zero has to offer. I'll make a playlist for you two.

Jason Rogue

are yall reacting to the dbfz brody movie and then dragon ball some time down the line I know yall got other shows ?

Mark

My top 5 characters for Super: 1. Beerus 2. Kale 3. Whis 4. Vegeta 5. Frieza Beerus’s appearance in the DB universe set the tone for Super, inspiring both Goku and Vegeta to find their god forms. I relate to Kale a lot, very shy and she is very queer coded. Whis is downright hilarious, he had the best comedic moments in Super. I love Vegetas character development in Super, from angry loner to a family man? Who would have thought lol. Friezas performance in TOP really impressed me, will he ever change? Absolutely not, Frieza is always going to be that bitch 😉😂

Cynergy

Broly movie thursday?

jay _

I thought it was funny how you guys kept eliminating 17 since the first episode of the tournament.

Yanpo

MF. WHEN WE GET TO SUPER HERO. YOU'RE GETTING AT LEAST SEVEN ABOUT THE MANGA'S ENDING.

JT

What an amazing journey it has been, so glad that I was here to witness. It’s not over yet though😏..

Jerry Capalot

My top 7 in Super is easily (#1 is favorite): 1. Bulma 2. Frieza 3. Goku 4. Whis 5. Beerus 6. Android 17 (if only factoring the animated arcs), Vegeta (if factoring post-tournament) 7. Jaco These 8 characters have been wonderful. Bulma is REALLY slept on. She’s intelligent, funny, useful, and her dynamic with Beerus, Whis and Jaco is what brings out the best in all 4 of them. As for Goku, he has his insufferable moments, but he always makes up for them. I adore Vegeta in the manga arcs after the tournament of power, which is partly why I want them animated ASAP.

Hohoho

YEAH, WELL, I EXPECT 6 PARAGRAPHS FROM YOU ABOUT DRAGON BALL MINUS WHEN WE GET TO SUPER BROLY.

Shadowpunch13

YOU BETTER BE SORRY. 5 PARAGRAPHS? WHO DOES THAT SHIT?

JT

Jesus CHRIST that is a lot of text, sorry lol

Shadowpunch13

Since it's the end of another arc, I guess I'll give my thoughts on it like I did the previous one. I do personally think this is the best of all the Super arcs. With that said I do think this is the arc that definitely has the highest highs, yet the lowest lows. I think it became most obvious with this arc that Dragon Ball is just simply not a show that benefits from the week to week format (Diama right now, also kinda supports that). This arc is great whilst being binged but on a week to week basis, you really feel the exhaustive pacing. This is especially true since you have, in the same, frankly, boring-looking location, over 30 weeks of nonstop action. This is a double-edged sword in my opinion, because on some weeks, the material might leave you gasping for what comes next, whereas when you get a stinker episode (87, 89, 106, 119) it can leave a bad taste in your mouth and kinda kill the anticipation you have to continue tuning in week-to-week. There also isn't much room for a "story" when it comes to this tournament. One of the things you'll notice about OG Dragon Ball's tournaments is how the stakes aren't completely artificial. All the tournaments in OG, tend to weave in important character-defining moments for new characters, giving a more nuanced take than simply "win to survive." To better grasp my point, consider the interaction between the "antagonists" of this arc. Neither Jiren nor Zeno are inherently "bad people" and neither of the stakes either of which bring, are anything meaningful without the other. If there was no Jiren, then Universe 7 would just clean sweep the tournament more or less uncontested. If there was no Zeno, then who cares if Universe 7 loses or not, since there'd be no consequences. Last complaint is about Jiren himself. I am personally in the camp of not caring too particularly much about him. I alluded to this before but I do personally wish his backstory focused more on how he actually obtained his power rather than a pathetic sob story. I like the similarities between him and Goku in how single-mindedly obsessed they are with getting stronger, however the story doesn't really do much with that to make interesting. Now with ALL of that said... this arc has some of the most substantial and incredible set pieces modern Dragon Ball has given us in years. Seeing some old members of the cast get some love (short-lived though some of it was), is always appreciated. There are some genuinely clever fan-service to be found within this arc, and I can't express how much bringing Frieza back again, worked so much better than it had any right to. Most people would say that Sumitomo really started cooking with the Goku Black arc, well here the man went absolutely off. Mixing a lot more jazzy/symphonic rock compositions was absolutely paramount for an arc so heavy on action and the man fucking nailed it. 109-110 deserves credit for literally breaking the fucking internet, not to mention giving us Ultra Instinct which I genuinely think is one of the sickest things to come out of this franchise. And lastly 131 still manages to be one of the best climaxes of any DB arc in my book, even if Jiren's character isn't particularly my favorite, I do still love the role he plays in facilitating the overall theme of trust that had been prevalent. Overall, this was an incredible journey to see you guys progress through DB (albeit out of order, I'm not salty, I swear) and seeing it come to a head with this episode is always something to look forward to from reactors so I'm grateful to both it and to DB as a whole. Here's to whatever comes next!

Shadowpunch13

I don’t know if you’ll ever decide to give GT a whirl (it’s kind of seen as the black sheep of the franchise by some ppl), but it was the non-canon sequel to Z way before Super became the de-facto sequel instead. I’m not bringing this up to expect you to watch it, but because they handle 17 in a completely different way to Super. I just find it so funny how each of those sequels took the character in drastically different directions. Tournament of Power 17 is my favorite incarnation of him, period.

Hohoho

I sure hope so. Like I said, it's likely that this will no longer be the case in the future. I just can't go w/o saying it because, for now, it's all we have and there's nothing concrete to say that'll change in the near future. Would love nothing more than for this comment to age poorly this year.

JT

That’s because the two manga arcs after the tournament were linked together, and since the first wasn’t multiversal, then the second isn’t. However, based on the wording of a certain someone at the end of the second arc, and the motivations of said person, I’m 99% sure we’ll be getting so much worldbuilding from this point on. I’m confident we’ll be getting a planet Sadala arc too.

Hohoho

No real need to pray! Their comments indicate that's where we're headed after the two movies.

JT

I’ve never been a fan of any of the opening and closing themes of Super, I much prefer the soundtracks from DB/Z/GT/Daima, but watching their little singalong was very endearing 😂

Cynergy

We've been gifted with double episode drop. Now I pray for OG Dragon Ball next

Kami_Psy

Unfortunately the anime is still stuck at this episode to this day. The Broly movie (next one) takes place immediately after the tournament, then you have two manga arcs that have yet to be animated, then after those, the Super Hero movie (last movie) takes place. The movie is written in a way that won’t spoil the manga-only events, so no worries, hop right into it after Broly. Though that means the movie will leave a lot of things vague that would be elaborated on in the actual manga version of that movie. It’s a shame because the two unseen arcs are, without contest, the best of Super. Daima takes place in the time skip between the Buu saga and Battle of Gods, so it can’t and won’t reference any *events* in Super since they wouldn’t have happened yet. However, it’s able to reference and explain some *lore* from Z & Super, so that’s fun

Hohoho

Man, from yalls super early death battle reactions, to yalls very first fighterz reactions. From not knowing a thing about these characters to slowly getting so connected to them through Abridged, Kai, and now Super. An incredible journey and still so much more to come! 🙏

Angel M

I remember talking to my best friend while the japanesse version was airing. I told him i was enjoying this arc but I was tired of pretending this arc had any consequence. He asked what I meant, I said the 7th universe will win and then wish back all of the universes that were erased. Low and behold.....

Christopher cdrom1019 DeLucia

Love friezas shit talking

Moises Martinez

I feel like similar to when they reacted to the older death battles, most of that stuff is years away from getting animated so most of it won’t really matter for right now even if they do watch it

Angel M

And that was Dragon Ball Super (the series). IMO this is still the “least best” ending we’ve gotten in the franchise. That’s largely owed to it not really being THE end, as there’s more that comes after this. DBS holds a very special place in my heart as it was the ongoing Dragon Ball series I grew up on (sorry if that makes anyone feel old). I started getting into DB right around the time of the build up to Resurrection F during the mid-2010s, and DBS was the perfect follow up to fuel my hype as a budding DB fan. It started off way too slow and it’s far from being my favorite series due to its several flaws, but to this day I’ve never followed a community and show as closely as I did with the DB fandom during Super’s run. As an adult, I feel like I owe a great deal to Super for why I’m such a big DB fan. Probably sounds corny to a lot of people. Wish I could’ve been a part of this tier closer to the start of DBS, but it is what it is. Thank you Ken and Bethany for giving me an excuse to watch this show again through its highs and lows. Glad you two enjoyed yourselves! And thank you everyone here in the comments with me. Ya’ll helped me realize how much I just enjoy talking about DB.

JT

21:50 Love this ending shot. Not only because Goku and Vegeta take up the stances they used in their first battle, but also because of what’s changed since the last time it was used back in the Saiyan Saga. Back then, the plateau Vegeta was standing on was taller than Goku’s to symbolize that the Saiyan prince was stronger than him. Now, their plateaus are at equal height to suggest that the two Saiyans are much more even. Really communicates how far they've come.

JT

That sing along to the credits 😆. You two are the greatest, ya know that?

JT

Well, at the very least we had gotten word by that point that we were getting a DBS movie later that year. Don't recall if we knew it was Broly at that moment, but we had something to look forward to.

JT

17:30 Just wanted to reiterate now that you've seen this. In the manga, Marcarita explains during the tournament of power that this "revive" ability of the angels is also unable to bring back people killed by demons (therefore Gicchin). Jiren NEEDED the Super Dragon Balls to do so.

JT

Now it's time for the 2 movies. Starting with DBS: Broly and then DBS: Super Hero.

GamerViewer89

Yes to this 👏 Ken and Bethany, be prepared to watch not only the best DB movie but the best anime film (imo) of all time ❤️

Cynergy

Goku would’ve definitely wished everyone back lol. Freeza was gonna be wished back with the earth dragon balls, thats the only reason he kept his cool after 17 made his wish 😂

Austin Collier

Oh believe me, this ain't shit compared to what I got planned for the two movies lol. Besides, doing these were a learning/re-learning experience for me as well! Glad someone share's my appreciation for such things 😁. You're awesome!

JT

I remember when this episode came out people were really nervous. At this point the manga was catching up to the anime, so we didn’t know how the series would end. The studio also announced they will be taking a break from the series, with no return date. So people were actually concerned that Jiren would win and that they would have to find a way to bring them back. Now we know that wasn’t the case but people were actually convinced Jiren could win. In Mexico, a country who’s a big fan of the series, they had literal strip clubs had flyers saying that if Goku won, everybody would get a free lap dance. This series is crazy popular

Ash

Whenever I feel like I'm confident in my DB lore, you prove me wrong and I'm all for it lol you can never not learn too much DB lore. Hope to see more cool facts from you in the next set of DB reactions 🙂

Cynergy

GO BROLY GO GO

JT

And we’ve reached the end 🙂‍↕️. And now we move on to Broly 👊

Austin Collier

LOOK AT VEGETA'S FACE while he watches the two people he hates most, fight to save his life. It is genuinely one of the best things I've ever seen. Personally I'm kind of indifferent on 130, but 131 is by far the best thing to come out of modern Dragon Ball in recent years. I love the idea that Frieza and Goku, two people who despise each other, can still find common trust in one another due to how well they know each other and the worst parts of each other's personalities. It's rare to see the two of them two talking so frankly with each other without any posturing or sarcasm. And in doing so is the only way they can actually win. That's that good Dragon Ball shit we like to see.

Shadowpunch13

Just aheads up these three Death Battes: Thor vs Vegeta Frieza vs Megatron Goku vs Superman 3 All have stuff that only happened in the manga so far so either read the manga or find videoes that explains whats happened so far so you dont get spoiled

Phoenix White

7:20 Have to give Toei's writers big props on this conversation. Moments like this can have a way of feeling incredibly corny and hokey if written a certain way, but the exchanges between these 3 feel natural. They're not being forcefully made out to have "become new friends" or anything like that.

JT

Thank y'all for the journey!!!!🙌🏾 Looking forward to the reaction of DBS Broly and DBS Superhero!

Markus John

'NOW BROLY! NOW BROLY!'

Spence

Thank you both for uploading this episode ahead of your schedule first of all, Ive really enjoyed your reactions to Super, it's been an amazing ride. I love the way U7 won, Frieza and Goku working together to take Jiren out whilst 17 served as back up, the ending of the series doesn't get more epic than this. Have to give credit where credit is due for Jiren, took 3 of them to take him out. Say what you will about him, but he deserves the title of strongest mortal in the multiverse.

Cynergy

Now that you two know that none of the universes in the T.o.P are staying erased, I can finally address my largest problem with this arc: Since this episode aired, about eight years have passed over which two arcs have come out in the manga (not counting Super Hero's adaptation) as well as two movies and a new show. Despite all of this new material, absolutely none of it has used any of the new characters or worlds introduced by this arc. It’s all been about Universe 7. IMO it just feels like such a waste to expand the Dragon World into a multiverse and not do anything with it. It also leaves this arc as a tad pointless, much like how Resurrection F was prior to DBS' later arcs. This could easily by resolved in the future, but the facts remain that so many possibilities were set up in this arc with no follow up. To put it into perspective, I’ll go over some of them: U11: With Jiren having realized that trust isn’t so useless, there’s all the reason in the world to give us more story material with the Pride Troopers as a bigger focus. Since Jiren and the others wouldn’t be limited to just being enemies against our main crew in U7, the writers could give them character depth that doesn’t just stop at being a shallow parody of Super Sentai. Toppo also has a lot of potential in terms of lore and development imo due to his status as a destroyer in training. You could also go further into how the Pride Troopers reflect on their value of “justice” after all that happened in the tournament. U6: I think just about everyone had figured that DBS would’ve tried to do more with the U6 Saiyans by now. There’s so much demand for an arc where Goku and Vegeta can continue their mentorship of Cabba, Caulifla, and Kale. You could create an arc that provides new history about the Saiyans, or cover that of which has only been mentioned in things like interviews or guidebooks. And of course, there are also characters like Hit and Frost. I doubt I really need to say why those two could be expanded upon. U2: Ok, hear me out. I’m not exactly begging for them to come back either. However, like the Pride Troopers, putting them in a story where they aren’t just fodder could allow them to be more than just annoyances. I’d like to think Ribrianne’s realization of U2’s love not being the be-all-end-all was meant to suggest that she and her crew wouldn’t just be as one-dimensional and obnoxious as they were in the T.o.P should they return. U1, U5, U8, U12: We haven’t even gotten to see these universes as they were exempt from the tournament. Endless possibilities there. Look at how giving characters like Frieza and Android 17 more screentime in stories where they aren’t just antagonists got people to warm up to them. I feel like wanting the other fighters to be given more story-wise isn’t unreasonable.

Episode Elimination Name Puns o U11’s Jiren: Anagram of “renji”, the Japanese word for “oven”. o U7’s Frieza: Freezer. Bc ofc. o U7’s Son Goku: By now you know that his Saiyan name “Kakarot” is a play on “carrot”, but has anyone told you about his Earth name? “Son Goku” is the Japanese rendering of the name “Sun Wukong”, as Dragon Ball began as a loose adaptation of Journey to the West. Since we’re so close to starting OGDB, I’ll hold off on discussing the many parallels Goku shares with the monkey king. Fighters Remaining: 80/80. Nobody’s dying today fellas! At last, my job is complete with these. Still don’t know what I was trying to achieve by doing this, but hey, I felt like doing it. Perhaps somebody learned something.
