Bulma 🍑 👀 OG Dragon Ball Ep 3 Full Reaction

Comments

Made a note of "Teen Titans Go to the Movies", thanks for the suggestion!

Bethany and Ken

So what are you like a mod?

REDE

idk about reacts but there are some letsplays with the TFS Voice actors in character. Vegeta and Krillin are the main ones.

Rinnzu Rosendale

Already on it. Have ultimates (Base game and DLC), also the Videl talk for base game and DLC.

Jason Rogue

"80's music...so upbeat." This may not be a popular request, but for a movie, some day, Teen Titans Go to the Movies. I promise, there IS a connection there. "Roshi's the gift." The one that keeps on giving, right? "You must've done something naughty." The look you two gave, knowing this man's antics, was so great. A detail of the Bulma scene lost in the anime that was in the manga; Bulma thinks for a moment that she's playing Roshi, since she doesn't care much about flashing her panties (much like she tried to do to Goku in episode 1), which is what makes the payoff even better. Naturally, also, your reactions to it were fantastic. I'm guessing y'all had forgotten about the pat pat scene from the previous episode at the time of watching this. Crocodile! The character that will never be seen again! Seriously, there's no explanation for that character. LOL! Bethany's comment was gold! "She pulls out an AR-15" She knows her target. Remember, it's not the first time she shot him, that was in episode 1.

DementisXYZ

pray on Vegeta never watch OG DB

Osio

Need to get them ultimates, too. Even though, most of those and the blasts 2 are just as boring and dry as the last installments. It’s been nearly 20 years!! Come on!! They should’ve used RB as an example.

k c

That's what I do as well. Even though I've only just finished this entire series about 3 days ago, and I started rewatching it like 3 months ago.

Jason Rogue

On the list.

Jason Rogue

When I saw the thumbnail, I knew what it was you were reacting to and you didn't disappoint. Yeah, Dragon Ball was just different back then even by japanese standards at the time. Regardless, it's definitely a show to watch despite the raunchy themes and scenes at times

Akka

can you watch the girl talk for sparking zero

REDE

Thanks to you bastards I've got a row of 🍑 lining my notifs now.

JT

When we warned you about 80s Roshi, we didn’t necessarily mean his debut. When you reach arc 3, every Roshi scene will probably subtract 6 years off your lifespans

Hohoho

The MOMENT I saw your thumbnail I cried laughing, knowing exactly what moment you guys watched, and your reactions DID NOT disappoint 😂😂 But aside from that watching DB is such a treat in part to its 80s musical themes and sound effects, almost like I'm watching He-Man or G.I. Joe lol. It's like you said early in the reaction Ken, the 80s had such an upbeat happiness to their music and why those times (and the 90s) hold a special place in my heart

J Sal

Early db soooo unhinged 🤣🤣🤣

victoria t

Yes Goku is able to completely withstand normal bullets, but they’d slightly hurt since skin is fleshy after all. You brought up Goku Black, but that was a different story. Mai used a Capsule Corp weapon to shoot him. It wasn’t a normal gun, and it didn’t hurt Goku Black at all. He just ducked to the ground because he was worried it would hit his potara

Hohoho

Akira not akita lol Yes I was going to say this too, this is how the mangaka depicts himself in his drawings or when he signs his name.

victoria t

yeh

JT

No no no. There is a certain arc where Roshi is diabolical each and every episode

Hohoho

I don't remember anything crazy in 56, maybe it's just been a while, the whole episode is one giant acid trip anyway. I am recalling a certain moment in 71 now though.

Serpent King

And it’s funny that we introduced to Turtle, first. And then, Roshi, followed by Kame House but only the Pilaf Gang is there

k c

The little koala on the tree was the creator of dragon ball avatar (Akira toriyama). he used it interact with the audience, most mangaka artist do this as they are often camera shy. They tend to use mask out in public.

MB2k

I like how so many aspects on the series were established so early on. Only episode 3 and we have dragon balls, capsules, dinosaurs, talking monsters, abnormally strong kid, pilaf gang, nimbus, turtle, Roshi and Kame House

k c

Ah, I see. Yeah, that one's pretty bad.

JT

“Pretty” pervy?? Full blown

k c

Yours was not the one I was thinking of but uh, yeah, the less said about that one as well, the better. Episode 47 was the one I was referring to.

Shadowpunch13

@Shadowpunch13 Honestly there’s like 2-3 moments that I feel ya could be thinking of 😅

JT

91% walking pile of perversion 9% wise badass sage

Hohoho

Also, that title is diabolical.

Jason Rogue

Perhaps in terms of nudity, but there’s a particular moment during a certain scene in episode 56 that is arguably just as (if not more) uncomfortable imo.

JT

I don't know if I'd agree with that, there's one thing later on I'm thinking of that's a bit uhhhhhhh 💀💀

Shadowpunch13

I really should take a page out of JT's book and just start writing these ahead of time. Thus far, I've been writing them as I watch the reaction lmao

Shadowpunch13

The special skin thing your thinking of is the dr in heroes. With goku he and the others are just strong enough to withstand bullets cause of there strength, it still stings them as goku points out when they are weaker like in this series but in later series they get strong and fast enough to be able to catch them before they hit them. I can only imagine the outrage if the bulma scene was put in a modern show, though anime these days can be pretty pervy with the animations of some female body parts

Knight Spearhead

Thanks bro! ❤️

Austin Collier

It's actually 1, 2, Rock, Scissors, Paper later on. No idea why they just say 1, 2 here.

Jason Rogue

26:44 While it's not entirely the most sensible explanation for the "in-universe" side of things, Bulma taking so long to recognize the Dragon Ball makes a little more sense in the original print of the manga. The Vizbig edition (that I have with me rn to double check) only shows the ball as a smudgy gray orb, which also gets obscured by Roshi's beard in some panels. To the reader, it could easily just be a regular necklace until Bulma decides to look at it more closely.

JT

The "koala" was actually Akira Toriyama's OC, known as Toribot. He also says, "This isn't Penguin Village." A little reference to Dr. Slump, his other gag manga with Arale. As you know, the Pilaf scenes are a pure anime thing, they're not in the manga, yet. Bulma probably knows Goku would survive, since she did shoot him in the head and all Goku got was a headache. Though in the manga when she capsules the house she does say, "next time I'm shooting to kill" or something along those lines.

Jason Rogue

you'll be happy to know that while the perversion doesn't stop, this is as bad as it gets. Very uncomfortable episode.

Serpent King

24:00 SCREAMING

Multxverse

Noteworthy changes/facts: Title Card: Original translation of the Japanese title, "The Turtle Hermit's Kinto'un" Rock, Paper, Scissors: The dub changes it to Goku simply counting "1, 2, 3" but originally he says "Paper, scissor, rock" (rock obviously being the fist he hits the creature with. It's why he had such a move in Kakarot). Magic Carpet: In the original, it's not a magic carpet that Roshi tries to summon, but a phoenix. However the bird unfortunately "died of food poisoning." Try figuring that one out. This episodes adapts Dragon Ball Chapters 3 pages 7-13 and Chapter 4. Once again, all Pilaf-related scenes are entirely filler.

Shadowpunch13

25:00 Well, yeah. Bulma quite literally watched Goku tank a shot to the head when she shot at him in the first episode.

JT

The introduction of the nimbus cloud is truly an iconic moment in DB, seeing Goku on that cloud again is so heart warming. Seeing Bethany's face morph from a neutral, amused expression to a deeply troubled one when Roshi asks to see Bulmas underwear was expected as it was entertaining 😂

Cynergy

I at least hope your day gets better dawg. Nothing but love for fellow db fans

Tal Rubin

6:00 This strange little character climbing a tree is Tori-Bot. He’s basically the avatar Toriyama would use whenever talking to the audience in his work, and he would sometimes just include the character in random places as a quick little visual gag. He made quite a few appearances in Dr. Slump. This moment of Tori-Bot in the manga had him ask "Is this Penguin Village?", as a quirky little reference to Dr. Slump's main setting. Since he's Toriyama's avatar, some fans who are familiar with the character like to joke that he's technically the most powerful character in Dragon Ball.

JT

I saw this as a kid in elementary school when I was reading the manga I borrowed at a library lol

Yoshitsune92

Lol getting the reaction before starting the episode😂

Knight Spearhead

Seasonal depression hitting hard rn so this made my day 😂😂😂

Austin Collier

SCREAMING. This is gonna be one hell of a reaction

Multxverse

Okay, let’s go. Of course, Bulma didn’t notice the dragon ball if she didn’t even notice she wasn’t wearing underwear lol.

k c

A lot of commenters and I have gone on record to say that Roshi in OGDB has more to his character than just being a walking pile of perv jokes, and I still fully stand by that. That being said, those moments of development aren’t exactly “imminent” for the time being… so just bear with us, yeah?

JT

The Flying Nimbus is yet another one of Goku’s parallels to Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong’s “Somersault Cloud” technique was taught to him by the Sage Subodhi (the inspiration for Roshi), allowing him to effectively fly among the clouds. Wukong could not carry mortals on his cloud if they were of impure nature.
