One thing about that storyline that isn’t clear just by watching the Cutscenes but during this quest, you can go around Liyue and talk to various playable characters including Xiao and Keqing who are hinting at preparing for something big. Plus Ninggaung ordering medical supplies from Baizhu and the conversation with Cloud Retainer, also teased it.

OOOooooo love the insider information here on Ganyu. Thanks for letting us know!

Wow, thanks for all this additional information. Kinda bummed we didn't get to see a boss fight with three dragon heads as that sounds really epic!

I really loved that quest when I played it, and I'm really glad they chose to keep the chinese version of the song in the english dub, not only because it fits better with the fact that it's a chinese opera, but also because they've tried making some characters sing in English in the past, and it... didn't go well. They've cut out the boss fight from the video, but basically, after Shenhe jumped into the vortex to follow the monster, the traveller jumps down with her and there's a boss fight that involves fighting 3 dragon heads while you're standing on a central platform. It can take some time because they attack at random, and you can only hurt them when they're close enough, but the attacks are quite easy to dodge. Finishing this quest makes the Jade Chamber appear within the world again (you could get on it any time you wanted after first stepping on it prior to its destruction, but it was obviously removed after it was sacrificed to get Osial). What makes it interesting is that the Jade Chamber is among the few places in the world of Teyvat that you can spot from almost anywhere. You can see it in the distance from Inazuma, if you stand on a cliff of Mondstadt, on a tall hill in Sumeru, or from almost anywhere in Fontaine (I don't think you can see it from Natlan because Sumeru is in the way). You should be getting close to The Chasm, which has 2 Archon Quests in it (one main Archon Quest that takes place between Inazuma and Sumeru, and an Interlude Chapter much like the quest from the video, and I hope the video for that one will give you some context about it, because there's a cutscene at the end of the World Quest that unlocks The Chasm in its entirety that is essential to understand the whole point of the Interlude Chapter (World Quests are relatively long and impressive quests that have a tendency to shape Teyvat, like removing or calming natural disasters on some islands of Inazuma, but they are not voice acted at all. One is required to access The Chasm, as the entrance is sealed off and some parts of the area aren't accessible unless you complete certain steps of the World Quest)

Next up will be another character from Version 1 you missed. Ganyu. Arguably one of the most popular female characters not just for looks, but being one of the best Bow users in the game at the time. One charged shot from her was enough to deplete a health bar by 80%, if not outright kill them. And something fun to know about her. Because she is also a student of Cloud Retainer, and because CR acts like a mom who can’t help spilling secrets about her daughters. Ganyu and Shenhe can be seen as adoptive sisters to each other. You won’t really see this until the next Lantern Rite, because Ganyu was created way before Shenhe. Which is why I put Ganyu right before this Lantern Rite.

I need to reiterate this about Shenhe. The quest really showcased how strong, emotionally numb, and socially distant she is compared to the rest of the cast. A lot of fans loved this character, so it’s a very big shame that there has only been like 3 opportunities to get her. Other characters have already had 5-6 at this point, but Hoyoverse for some reason never really promoted her all that much. This is kind of the hard thing to determine when it comes to a fanbase of Genshin’s size. Characters that get reruns are usually vocally urged to come back or were the most profitable at the time. Even though a lot of people wanted more of Shenhe to play, maybe she wasn’t as popular as others make her out to be. No one knows for sure except Hoyoverse themselves. And they don’t really want to share data that can harm them.

Yun Jin actually has 2 voices. The one who speaks normally. And the one who sings her Chinese Opera voice. Hoyoverse actually got a famous Chinese Opera singer to sing this piece and many fans LOVED it. Not necessarily for the Opera itself, which is more of an acquired taste that old Asian folk enjoy. What they did for this music piece here is westernize it by incorporating western instruments into the melody. Chinese Opera itself is very high pitched and probably wouldn’t make the piece this loved without trying to westernize it.

So the whole Osial’s wife wanting revenge thing came out of nowhere for most fans. Kind of the unfortunate thing with Gacha stories is that, while trying to sell the character by fleshing out their stories, other things like build-up to a hidden enemy kind of get put to the wayside. Either not brought up or lore being hidden inside an item description.
