Monster Hunter All Openings Reaction - Including Wilds

1:20:44 Those Palico games are entries of the Monster Hunter Diary spinoff series that has never been (officially) released outside of Japan. The katakana in the title just so happens to look like it spells "tail it". You didn't seem to catch it, but these titles were developed by FromSoftware (which is funny considering the aesthetic of what they're more known for). They were handheld games made for the the PSP and 3DS that are closer to adventure games rather than action RPGs like traditional MHs are. From what I've seen of the gameplay, I can totally understand why Capcom hasn't made a larger effort to try and localize the series. IPs of its genre and style don't tend to sell too well here in the west unless your name is Animal Crossing lol.

JT beat me to this but to expand a little on the numbering as well. They would have 2 main development teams working on what would be the "mainline" game with a number and a second team working on the in-between game, usually the portable game. So there was Monster Hunter 2 and "2 portable" etc. When it comes to World, that is actually Monster Hunter 5 with Monster Hunter Rise as the "in-between" portable game. This makes MH Wilds 6, which can be seen in the games logo. (Pretty sneaky). Also I think you two would enjoy Monster Hunter Stories, it's an RPG that feels almost very Pokemon in nature.

15:58 The Monster Hunter titles in this video with "G" in the name were expanded editions of previous games. This video mostly uses the Japanese versions of Monster Hunter openings. From what I understand, the letter "G" is basically the Japanese equivalent of us in the U.S. using "X" to make things sound more "extreme". So, in their case, G is short for "greater" or "grander" to emphasize that these new iterations have more content. I.E.: Monster Hunter -> Monster Hunter G Monster Hunter 3 -> Monster Hunter 3 G and so on.

7:46 That would be the "Khezu". You've seen it a couple times in other MH reactions, and it never fails to creep ya two out lol.

By "this week for WWW", do you mean it's just the post for tomorrow on YT, or the one for Patreon this week as well?

JT

Woohoo. Been waiting for this. Thank you guys for covering it!
