I'm the same with OP as its lore is super heavy and can require critical thinking on some parts as it is very complex with callbacks to eps as relevant as ep 1 even to present day.

Foxy is definitely an earthbender, she’s down-to-earth, so much that she barely wants to make video appearances lol

J Sal

Seriously? Didn't realize it was THAT rare.

Bethany and Ken

We love geeks and LOVE all this shared knowledge, thank you so much! And we have plunged into the One Piece live action show (not the same as the anime, but it is something) and we can't wait for it to return.

Bethany and Ken

Great points on the air bending of air ships. Your comparison with the force makes me think of a scene with Darth Vader and a space ship departure that now very much contextualizes this for us.

Bethany and Ken

Haha, that would be true and we would love if Bucky could be Zen enough to be an Airbender, but he is way too high strung. Our money would be on him being a fire bender. Foxy could be an air bender because she is Zen but Ken and I both think she'd be an earth bender.

Bethany and Ken

Lmao that’s literally me with One Piece lol. If Ken and Beth ever do (HUGE IF) react to One Piece I’d be just as detailed in explaining things in the comments section lol

J Sal

Lol it's nothing special, I just go to the Avatar wiki page if there is something I am unsure of, it is usually pretty detailed. For other stuff I just have a really good memory when it comes to shows and I will hunt down specific episodes if I need to double-check my facts. I've still gotten things wrong in translation but I try really hard to make sure I don't give people false info when they are knew to the fandom because I don't want to spoil their understanding of the show. I'm just a huge geek for shows like this and I have way too much time on my hands to do research lol! XD

Lady RedShee

Bucky in the spirit world! If that's the case then he must be an airbender like the bison lol!

J Sal

Lmao I'm trying to find the Avatar encyclopedia where you get this information from cause damn, even I didn't know some of this stuff lol

Just so you know, being able to fly is not a type of sub-bending it's more of an advanced form of airbending, the equivalent of a water bender being able to blood bend, and a fire bender being able to produce lightning, it's rare and flying in the air is a form of philosophical enlightenment that requires mental fortitude instead of requiring one to be born with it or trained for it like blood bending, producing lightning, or lava bending. The name of the Captain you guys couldn't catch was Kuvira, you saw her being introduced in some scenes in prev eps earlier this season when they first entered Zaofu. As for being able to airbend huge battle ships I believe it is possible but might require a lot of airbenders for 1 ship as it's a huge hunk of metal that weighs TONS. It's like someone saying "If you can use the force why don't you just use the force anytime you want during battle?" in Star Wars, it doesn't work like that. Bending requires concentration and consumes energy and I doubt 1 single airbender would be able to take out a airship by themselves unless they were extremely strong or the Avatar. So yes, it's very possible just not practical under normal circumstances saying someone can easily lift weights then by that logic should be able to easily lift a house which isn't feasible alone.

I remember when I was first watching Korra as it came out, I read a comment in a thread discussing nicknames for characters that made me laugh. "Sparky-Sparky Boom Ma'am" I only tend to be peripheral to fandom, so I have no idea whether that name got any traction or just lay there silently in that one comment, but it really stuck in my head all these years later.

The air benders during Avatar Wan's day could KINDA fly, more like levitate, during the moments when they had the air bending from the Lion Turtle, but Guru Laghima seems to be the first air bender to fly full time for an extended period of time. According to Zaheer in a previous episode, Guru Laghima didn't touch the ground for 40 years. It is SO cool that Bolin can lava bend! He is even more rare than an metal bender and it's nice to have a lava bender on the good team! The airships are like Zeppelins, yes they fly but they are more dependent on their engines than anything else. When the air ship that Asami and Korra were on crashed in the desert they mentioned that it couldn't fly because it was clogged with sand and the propellers were bent. Could an air bender create a strong enough current to mess up its flight path and bring it down? Probably, but that would more than likely require more than one air bender or Korra in the Avatar state. Even messing with a boat in the water during ATLA required Katara and Aang together and that was a much smaller vessel than an air ship. I'm with Bethany, peace bitch lol! Zaheer said what his goal was in a previous episode: to get rid of the Avatar. He just never specified how he was going to go about that. Zaheer has personal beef against Korra's dad. Tonraq was part of the group with Tenzin, Sokka, Zuko (and maybe Kya and Bumi as well?) that took Zaheer and the Red Lotus down when they tried to kidnap Korra as a child. If Tonraq had just been another world leader he might not have had the same reaction but Tonraq helped put him in prison for over a decade so he's a little salty lol. The problem of trying to negotiating with someone like Zaheer is that they are never going to be the one to backdown and they will always bet on the person with a soul backing down first because they are the ones that won't be able to live with the consequences if someone dies as a result of trying to negotiate. Korra was always going to blink first and Zaheer knew that, he even pushed her further when he radioed to have the hostages killed when Korra hesitated to put down her staff on the peak. Zaheer is smart and knows exactly what buttons to push. And it didn't help that Korra had practically made up her mind right after talking to Zuko, Korra was already leaning that way but hadn't voiced it until talking to Zaheer and realizing that the situation was dire. Looking forward to the season finale on Monday!! Thanks for your awesome reactions!

Everyone in this comment section better keep their mouths shut and don't say anything about the thing you know you shouldn't say anything about. You'll ruin the payoff.

Bolin getting a power boost! Lava bender a rare trait! I think he’s the second person to ever be a lava bender.

"Kinda dark." Can't wait for you to see it get darker. Awww! Bucky! One of the best edits to date. "Take her out." Oh, boy, I can't wait for you to see just how far out. Twisted though this may sound, I LOVE P'li's death. One of the most metal (no pun intended) deaths in any series I've ever seen. I also love the added detail that she was Zaheer's earthly tether, sort of like how Katara was Aang's. Lavabending! This was the moment I somehow predicted! Back when we first saw Bolin struggling to metalbend in Zaofu, I turned to my then-girlfriend and said, "Prediction...Bolin's gonna lavabend." The hype I had when this scene occurred and shouted "CALLED IT!" There she is! Kuvira! Remember the name, 'cause that's Zelda Williams. There was a LOT this episode, I actually had difficulty typing everything as it was going. Also, yeah, Dark... Bolin being a lavabender, when I predicted it, made sense because he's the child of an earthbender and a firebender, so I was very happy to see my reasoning lead me to a correct prediction. "Peace bitch." Damn, Bethany. In regards to the negotiations, I agree. Honestly, Mako is at fault, as well. He should've made Ghazan show even one of the "airbender's" faces. Plus, when they saw that he was supposedly the only one there, they should've realized they had a better chance of preventing him from wiping them out, so they held more leverage than Korra believed. "All he wants is destruction." *Gasp* Zaheer is Beerus! In regards to the air temple, I feel not that much was done. This is the Northern Air Temple, which was already reduced a good amount back in the original Avatar. I'm not sure if you remember, but in season 1 of Avatar, this was the place that the Fire Nation had hold of and the engineer had been smashing up most of the temple for building machines. Granted, yes, there's still a decent amount else that was destroyed by this, but it wasn't much more than what was already gone. Plus, from some of the exterior shots, we can see it was mostly the one side of the mountain, leaving a large percentage of the temple still standing.

I think the group just havent thought of the idea of air bending a ship out of the sky and probably dont have the power for it besides korra and tenzin. Airships can be as large as old 1900s Cruise ships were in size
