The technique Shin used was called ‘Kiai’ (pronounced Kee-Eye) it’s a Ki technique in Dragon Ball that multiple characters can do (where they blast shockwaves from their palms or eyes) you’ve seen Goku and Jiren do it before. Shin used it on Fat Buu in DBZ Kai ep 125 but he couldn’t budge him and Buu sent him flying with his own Kiai, he also used it to blow up the Ki blast Buu hit Gohan with prematurely (same episode) and saved his life.

“Kaioshin” translates literally to “God of Kings of Worlds”, The word Kaioshin sounds beautiful and the translation makes it a super impressive title. So grateful you shared all of this with us, very fun to learn the meaning behind the names.

Bethany and Ken

Ah thanks for pointing this out and including the video link as we missed the significance of that move when watching the Buu saga.

Bethany and Ken

So MAYBE the Supreme Kai has done a few things 😉

Bethany and Ken

Hey as much as i defend Baby Kai i still think it's kinda funny how they roast him hehe

Asuka Yousei 妖精帝國

They just rag on him as a reoccurring unfunny joke.

REDE

Shin showed why he is universe 7's supreme kai

Mosh Mia

Lmao Bethany saying the Tamagami have huge bodies but skinny legs, that basically describes every muscular One Piece character in that show, something that I hope the live action incorporates next season lol. Back to topic, it was definitely great to see Shin throw down, and funny enough the only times you ever see him actually fight is in some of the past DBZ games lmao

Do people really not remember it was Supreme Kai that saved Gohan's life in the buu saga? Gohan was burnt foody before Kai saved him. Supreme Kai was also indirectly the reason for Gohan getting stronger in the buu saga. Kai also is the reason we even got a super saiyan blue Vegito. He's also used that force power before against fat buu although he was way out classed. God now i'm sound like the ultimate Supreme Kai fangirl, i swear i'm not lol. Aw baby Kai will forever be roasted😂

Asuka Yousei 妖精帝國

Next episode is my favorite in terms of animation and choreography, I would say its as good as the broly movie for animation and choreography

Bahaha! THIS was the episode I was waiting for you to watch because DAMN, Supreme Kai was just so useful! Sure, he hasn't done a saga's worth of useful stuff but he really showed his stuff as a Kai nonetheless.

Multxverse

“The tamagotchi” HAHAHAHAHA it’s TAMAGAMI 🤣🤣🤣

victoria t

Can’t wait for the next episode. Great animation and fight scene.

Yoshitsune92

“This is his best episode” made me lol, please never change Ken 😂 in all seriousness it was nice to see Shin be in the action for once, suppose he never needed to fight with Goku around. Bear in mind that Supreme Kais are trained in martial arts and magic so im sure there are other abilities he has that have yet to be revealed in the series. I did like how self aware Goku was regarding raising his kids, in his defense though Saiyan males very rarely stuck around to raise their children, often off world to pirate planets for selling.

Cynergy

I FORGOT SHIN DID THE NARUTO RUN lmaoooo Shin actually doin stuff!

victoria t

Vegeta and Bulma are so funny together LOL but it’s cute he always stands protectively in front of her

victoria t

Me neither. Experienced way too much infighting and corny behavior w/ that business over the years. I'm more or less over it lol.

25:41 There have been several times where Dragon Ball characters use what's known as a "kiai" in martial arts. A kiai is a short yell or gesture that is used to express the spirit/energy of a martial artist's strikes. In Dragon Ball, characters have such powerful energy that a simple kiai is enough to push/strike something. Nahare used one on Buu back in DBZ. Found a clip of it here (he does it around the 1:00 mark): https://youtu.be/vnC9UpS_X-8?si=wNVrgqTTyU2rV4jC You’ll be seeing a few more of them in OGDB, but I can't recall if the dub ever explicitly calls them "kiais".

I have to wonder if a Babidi-enhanced Dabura would've been able to stand up to the Tamagami. I think the implication is that Dabura was only Cell-level because of Babidi? Idk, I don't really mess with the power-scaling/power creep thing.

Shadowpunch13

There is only one season of this currently, it only ended just before you guys started

Knight Spearhead

15:53 Nah I like ya'll but I don't wanna hear anything from you about not getting names right 😂 Edit: (26:45) YA SEE?! You mfs😂

JT

So yeah, this episode right here was what I meant by people starting to switch up on their opinion about Nahare (including me). Seems you two followed suit.

JT

8:57 I haven't been keeping up with the dub and I may be mistaken but is this the first time the official dub has just outright used "Ki"? Usually they try to skirt around the word or just use "energy." Although I guess we kinda got that in Super Hero? Interesting. Hope they use it more going forward.

Shadowpunch13

Oh boy, Tamagami 3! Still my favorite of the three Tamagami and one of my favorite characters introduced in Daima. Looking forward to rewatching him in all his glory next episode. Love his intro yell and pose, haha

The reveal of Shin’s name is something that a lot of people probably just looked past, but it made me incredibly happy. “Shin” was an alias that the Supreme Kai used back in the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament as an abbreviation of “Kaioshin”, which is the Japanese title used for the Supreme Kai. The word “Kaioshin” translates literally to “God of Kings of Worlds”, but the dub likely opted to call them “Supreme Kai” since the former is a mouthful and harder to work into lip flaps. This alias has just been used by the rest of the cast ever since. You probably don’t remember, but during my series of name pun comments during the Tournament of Power, I mentioned that the Supreme Kai were all either named after old/fancy Japanese verbs forms or real-world gods. Nahare and his siblings follow the verb form scheme like Gowasu and Zamasu: Nahare: “Nahare” is an imperative verb suffix (i.e. used for giving orders) associated with Japan’s Kansai region. Degesu: “Degesu” comes straight from a polite copula verb (i.e. a fancy way to say “is”). Arinsu: “Arinsu” was a verb for “to exist” used by Edo-era prostitutes. Don't go reading into that. I’ll be calling Shin by his real name Nahare going forward because I’m a goddamn nerd and the discrepancy of him not having an actual name while the other Supreme Kai did had bothered me for the longest time lol.

Lore Recap Compilation 7 - The Demon Realm has beauty parlors and pizza places that serve worms as a topping. Yes, this was worth noting, wdym? - Katchintite is the metal that the magic collars used to enslave the natives of the Third Demon World are made of. This metal comes from the Glinds’ original home planet, Planet Kaishin, which was located in the Second Demon World. This is interesting because this is the same metal that Glinds have been able to manifest at will, such as when Nahare created a block of Katchintite for Gohan to test the Z-Sword against. While Glinds most commonly possess this ability, anyone can learn the spell. - Dr. Arinsu was the creator of the magic collars. - Shin’s real name is “Nahare”. There’s so much I have to say regarding this fact that I have to dedicate a separate comment to it (as seen above). - Somebody with a gun the same size as himself tried to challenge Tamagami 3 about 20 years ago and died. Who this person was is never answered in Daima. Could be a thread that some writer decides to pick up later down the line. - According to Panzy, the Tamagami are all more powerful than Dabura.
