In the Yangchen novels (the air nomad avatar before Aang) Kavik (a waterbender) actually did spit ice into someone’s eyes, so it is a possibility with waterbending.

2025-03-22 16:52:17 +0000 UTCGiving Korra the Hannibal Lector treatment makes sense when you consider that she’s the avatar. Removing her access to water and earth prevents her from bending those elements mostly. Firebending doesn’t require an outside source so binding her arms and legs prevents her bending it or making her own water like Katara did in the wooden cage. That just leaves airbending which is why her face is covered. An airbender can put a lot of force behind simply blowing air out their mouth. Aang used that very move to start his escape from Zuko’s ship in the very first episode of season 1.

They're interesting to watch and I love that we get to see them make tactical decisions (in a very similar way to the villains of RWBY getting screen time. Just that the Red Lotus actually get along somewhat) Retroactive dunking on Unalaq is funny, I keep forgetting they do that. Some scary imagery with Korra waking up having been captured too, some really thrilling stuff overall.
