Assassin's Creed 3 Part 10

Comments

this game was released way back in 2012 when alot of people thought the world would end cause of the mayan calendar, Ive always viewed desmonds death as a sacrifice so that we all may live.

AC Rogue was originally released on PS3 and Xbox 360!

Really appreciate the education here on the Mohawk hairstyling as well as the insight for Connor and Desponds choices as well as the tenents that Desmond upholds in the end.

Juno and her story are kind of forgotten after this, there are a few mentions of her through the games, but you have to read an 8 issue mini comic to find out what really happened.

I love the scene at the bar between Connor and Charles Lee. It carries a lot of power and meaning without having to say a single word (partially due to the fact that they already had "death talk" right before Connor shot Charles). Just the end of a chase that took years, and Lee giving up because he knows the Templars' plans on the continent are doomed anyway without Haytham and the others, and that he's at death's door anyway. Some of the dialogues after Desmond found the amulet can seem a bit odd, and that's because you're supposed to put the power sources as you get them, instead of all at once at the end, so the dialogue was written as if you'd just found the power source and were still in the middle of looking for the key. As someone else said, while this is the end of Desmond's story, it isn't the end of the story of his ancestors yet. The next in line is indeed Liberation (though, if I remember correctly, it's fairly short and serves mostly as a prelude to Assassin's Creed IV : Black Flag). Unity and Syndicate, the following ones in the main series (there's a short spin-off called AC Rogue released after Black Flag that was originally only released on portable consoles, so even on PC it doesn't look that great but has some interesting lore) share a similar movement system allowing the player to climb down of buildings with ease, but they also share the same issue of not having different saves. And I do believe Unity doesn't even have a way to erase your save, so once you finish it, it's over (unless they changed that since I last played it). Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla are wildly different games, both in story, gameplay and environment, throwing you into massive open worlds covering entire countries, with much more freedom in progressing the story, special skills, and tons of sub-quests. I love them, but they're vastly different from the Desmond lineage games.

Charles Lee's subdued death works really well for the game considering two things. One, Haytham was the leader and the one who held all the power in the Templars, and Connor already killed him due to Haytham's unwillingness to kill his son. Two, Connor knew his tribe was doomed at this point. This was less of revenge and more of a suicide mission. He had nothing left but to kill Lee, and when he did, he wasn't satisfied. Everyone he cared about has died or left him. When the Mohawk tribe cut their hair like that, it was a sign from the warriors that they were mocking combatants who wanted to scalp them. So, these warriors were targetted first to spare the rest of the tribe. In essence, Connor wants to take all the burdens of the tribe in this moment, just as he has done throughout the game so that he might metaphorically be the one to be sacrificed and not the other way around. As we can see, this doesn't work out since he is the only one left in his tribe in the end. Desmond's choice to work with Juno and sacrifice himself reflects Connor's sacrifice in the same way. He'd rather die himself to save everyone than the other way around. In the moment, Juno makes the Templar argument and it seems like Desmond agrees with it by taking her side, but ironically Desmond actually follows the Assassin's Creed in the end. By killing Lucy in Brotherhood and sacrificing himself here, he makes sure to 1) Not harm innocents 2) Hide in plain sight (not let the world know about what's going on) and 3) Protect the Brotherhood. If he chose Minerva's choice, which on the surface seems to be the better option, he would break all three tenets of the Creed. So in the end, Desmond follows the principle that "nothing is true, everything is permitted" because he puts faith in humanity and the other Assassins to deal with Juno later. He made the choice that none of his ancestors would make. Altair would have probably trusted Minerva given his track record, Ezio already quit being an Assassin in the end, and Connor was far too short-sighted for decisions like this. Plus, since there are still more Assassin's Creed games, it's safe to say that someone down the road figured out what to do about Juno LOL AC3 didn't have the most satisfying execution of its themes or the storyline, but in the end it still made sense to the overarching story, even if the ending was pretty anti-climactic. There was probably way to tell this story without randomly killing Desmond, but it's not the worst either.

So, this is the end of Desmond's story. I haven't touched Blag Flag in a long time and I dont remember Desmond being mentioned in the game. After Desmond died Abstergo comes and picks up his remains. The extract his genetic code and use it to explore his memories. Assassin's Creed Liberation is a spin-off of AC3 with it being in New Oreleans in 1765 with a new protagonist Aveline. During the intro we it's Abstergo letting us dive into the memories of Aveline. Meaning we're no longer playing as Desmond but someone else entirely.

We don't see Juno's vision, but we hear about it. She enthralls all of humanity. Minerva's is sort of like Warhammer in a way. Desmond comes the God of Humanity, and whoever doesn't worship him is a heretic and deserves death. Humanity will be in a never-ending war.

Jason Rogue

Oh, interesting. Thought the creator skipped over all of Juno's conversations as you can hear these in-between every sequence, but smart that the creator saved these til the end.

Jason Rogue

Connor Davenport, Achilles Davenport's son.

While I wasn't the biggest fan of Connor's mohawk during the original. I did grow to appreciate it more as I replayed this game just recently.
