Just so you know you don’t need to learn a skill in this game to do a double assassination you can do it on the fly instead of waiting in mid game like all the other previous games

When you were chasing the thief before you went up the stairs u may have seen a glowing pulley thingy (forgot the name) but it’s supposed to launch u up on the roof which would’ve helped you guys assassinate the dude from the rooftop. If you have to many people in the crowd the rooftops are your best bet to get away faster

Thank you for the context around this, very helpful to understand the evolution of the games and the parkour abilities. And thank you for the encouragement, was a frustrating first go around but determined to get better at it.

So the old AC games had different parkour systems. AC1-AC2 had the same parkour system, which was totally player controlled. You had 100% free reign of movement, which allowed for really complex maneuvers and different movement patterns. However, because it was totally player-controlled, people ended up falling really easily. The entire map was set up like a puzzle or a rubix cube - there were multiple ways to "solve" it and part of the fun was to master your movement AC Brotherhood and Revelations are MOSTLY the same system, but there were more auto-adjusts to streamline movement,t which limited player freedom but made it easier for most newcomers. AC3 and AC4 had more auto adjustments as well to move faster, which limited player agency again but to traversing the environment more quickly. So it's a middle ground between the old games and the new games. Flash forward to modern AC games, and the parkour system is really, really stripped down. Every movement is automatic, and the player has no control over how you move. Every object and movement pattern is predetermined once you touch that object. Because of this, the animations are much smoother, almost like it's "supposed" to happen. Because it is LOL So, the older games feel like "jankier" because you have way more control over how you move. More objects are climbable and can be utilized, which means you have to be more precise with your movements and pickier with how you travel because there are way more options. That, and modern AC protagonists would just Spider-Man climb directly up surfaces. This is totally normal BTW. It's like learning how to walk for the first time, you're going to fall a few times. But once you understand how to move properly, you'll never want to go back.

I think Edwards accent isn’t thick due to being from southern Wales, It’s probably the case of the further north you go the heavier the accent

Little fact of the day : Stede Bonnet is the first historical figure you've met in the game. While I won't disclose his story fully, he gained a unique reputation during the golden age of piracy (an era set between 1690 and 1730). AC IV is officially marketed as having been made by Abstergo Entertainment, basically a way to sneak Ubisoft into the AC universe, as the building in which you work is situated in Montreal, much like the main studio branch behind the game. It's a concept that I like, because it explains why the main menu is so unique : it's in fact the Animus interface that you use to dive into Edward's memories.

Yea with the newer games they changed the controls quite alot its caused a divide in the fandom with those that prefer the new or old
