We kept it to series that either got multiple recommendations, as well as taking into account a series that was under 30 episodes, or was sold to us from who suggested it by putting in why they thought we would like a series.

The only ones I’ve seen are Frieren and Gurren Lagann (not even sure if I finished that - I remember putting it in the same category as “Kill la Kill” which I also watched around that time [I believe it was newer at the time and I definitely finished that]), and played a bit of FGO back on an older phone I had (familiar with the characters just from being around the series and anime in general). This would be a good excuse to give Dandadan, Sakamoto Days, and Solo Leveling a watch since those seem to be super popular. Recently I’ve been just watching “small(?)” slice of life or drama series that I come across on a whim. That seems to be the only way I can watch something. When I’m not familiar with the series or hype and only intend to watch “a bit of the episode” lol. A recent exception was a series called Talentless Nana. I saw a YT short and had to watch. It had similar vibes to a certain game. I couldn’t help but notice some parallels.

It's not that the English dub is bad in terms of acting quality, but they use too many modern anachronisms like "dude" (takes ya out of the setting I think), and some of the dramatic beats don't quite land as well with the tone choices they go for.
