Aww, we opening on Bucky kisses? Huh, localization can be such an interesting thing. Almost the entire conversation between the group was different between Japanese and English, but most of the same conclusions were reached. The only big difference by the end of it was Bulma's group refusing to go Dragon Ball Hunting with Goku and everyone being surprised he's taking off immediately to find them. And now; Welcome to our Dragon Ball's first series of Filler Episodes! In the manga, Goku taking off on Nimbus ended chapter 54, with 55 starting a few episodes from now, kicking off the next major arc. For now, though, we get a few filler episodes to buy Toriyama time to get the story further ahead. That said, it is nice to see Nam, since his departure at the tournament was his last major appearance in the manga. Oh wow, valid point. In Japanese, Goku says Nam is the first man to be able to ride the Nimbus. "Until you got expelled for stealing the teacher's papers." Yeah, in Japanese, it's not papers he stole.

2025-05-21 21:56:27 +0000 UTCThe dub cuts out yet another insert song at about the 16 minute mark. It's called "Fushigi Wandārando." It's a good listen and to my knowledge this is the only episode it plays in.

2025-05-21 17:06:02 +0000 UTCWorst episode ? really ? I've never heard ANYONE say that but you're entitled to your opinion. I absolutely loved this episode. It's very campy and shows how special Goku is which was the point of this episode. One of my favorite fillers. Also the tournament fighters having more screen time is leading to something else but i can't say. If you watched this you should know already.

I always feel sorry for Puar and Oolong, they really do get objectified…..literally 😔

2025-05-20 20:04:15 +0000 UTCThe merry-go-round gum is what giran used to tie up and throw goku in the tournament, in his eyes the amount of it necessary to make the dam could be seen as indestructible since it was there before him and he didn’t expect anybody in the tournament to be able to break out of the little bit he could make on his own, but given his and the rest of his crews personality I also can’t put it past them to just be full of it either lol

2025-05-20 19:36:37 +0000 UTC19:12 Yeah, Merry Go Round Gum (translated as Lassoin' Gum in the manga). It's the purple substance that Giran spit out at Goku to bind him during their match. Since it seemed to be the key to getting Giran as far as he did in the tournament, it must be rather sturdy (for most people in OGDB).

2025-05-20 19:20:40 +0000 UTCI appreciate Toei’s decision to provide the other tournament fighters more screentime through filler like this. In the manga, the tournament is all we ever see of Nam and Giran until they’re shown lending Goku energy for the Spirit Bomb in the Buu Saga.
