Thank you!

Bethany and Ken

Also to clear up potential confusion on “Furher King Bradley”. King is his first name, Furher is his title.

I'm not sure how much is changed in the dub besides the transition scenes, however originally in the subs the next EP should have a new opening and a new outro. So you guys can look forward to that. Hope that answers your question!

The beginning of this show is definitely the weakest part, but you’re over the hump now. From here on out you guys are gonna be getting HEATERS! No more one off episodes about a pregnant woman!

One of my favourite early episodes, such great reveals and some awesome action

Knightlight 1414

Yea the original version will always be my favorite but i really do love BH as well.

Asuka Yousei 妖精帝國

One of my absolute favorites. I love how Arakawa gives you JUST enough information to figure it out 1 page before the official reveal, leading to so much dread as you second guess yourself. “No, that can’t be… right?” Then BAM! Hahahaha. And the line in this episode that very subtly hints at it, too.

Ok ok, in my last comment when I said when Wrath shows up, “the whole game changes,” that comment was completely unintentional, and I had NO IDEA he would be revealed this early. Coming in to this series with you guys, I already knew King Bradley was Wrath via Adult Swim, but I didn’t know when this would be revealed, but here we are now lol. Now I will say that as I’m watching this show, bits and pieces from what I vaguely remembered before are coming back to me and now I remember who Pride is, THAT reveal is gonna be a shocker as well

It's interesting, your question of what exactly happened with the human transmutation ritual and the homunculi. If you ever watch the original version of FMA after this, you'll be surprised.

Aaaaaaand part 2 of the great big shakeup that gives you a ton of the pieces! Yeeeeesssss! I noticed you said, “king?” early on when Mustang was told that Bradley had gone south. King Bradley is his full (human) name. His government title is the Fuhrer, being as Amestris is a military dictatorship largely styled off of WWI era Germany, and his first name is King. Now that you know he’s a homunculus, it feels almost too on the nose, doesn’t it? He was created for the purpose of being the country’s leader and was given the name King, hahaha. It’s actually hilarious that you called out both Pride and Wrath as his potential names. Obviously you just learned his real name is Wrath, but in the first anime from 2003 that went in a completely different direction, he was Pride. His power was the same in both, though. Speaking of which, the Ultimate Eye. Despite not having the same regeneration as his siblings and a body that has aged well past his prime, the Ultimate Eye firmly places Wrath as one of the top 2 homunculi in overall power (the other being Pride), and he is by far the most skilled in actual combat. Oh Greed, you were taken from us far too soon. We love you and will miss you. Like I said in my previous episode comment, either Greed or Wrath are my favorite homunculus. Greed’s personality is just so infectious, he’s a ton of fun. And despite being, well, greed personified, he genuinely treats his people well and earns their loyalty. He calls them his “possessions” but his actions tell a different story. Not a single one was afraid of him or intimidated into service, they all chose to follow him. Like Mustang, he has huge ambitions, but isn’t willing to be a tyrant or rule through fear to get them. Now as for the “human sacrifices” bit. Wrath told Father that he confirmed Ed and Al are good candidates to be sacrificed, and brought up Izumi as well. What sets them apart from anybody else? What do these three have in common? I won’t spell it out for you, just trying to get you to really think about it. Bethany, I am *super* impressed you picked out that one of the memories Al recollected was from the point of view of their failed attempt at bringing their mother back to life. That’s a detail that is incredibly easy to miss, and even then difficult to make sense out of what you’re even seeing. Yes you are correct, Alphonse now clearly remembers lying on the floor in the same place as that abomination. But what does that mean? The brothers had all the ingredients they needed to construct a human body, but Al’s very existence proves that there’s something more to humans than their physical body. Equivalent Exchange: mankind cannot gain something without giving up something of equal value. Just as the intro used to narrate, “what could ever equal the value of a human soul?” Speaking of the opening narration that we don’t have anymore, did anybody sound familiar this episode? Father. The narrator’s voice… was Father. Yes, Father does look like the Elric brothers’ father, Hoenheim. Whether it’s actually him or not I won’t say of course, but there is something I have been pointing out consistently in these episode comments. I have repeatedly stated that one of the major themes to Full Metal Alchemist is “the Sins of the Father.” Lust. Gluttony. Envy. Greed. Wrath. Sloth. Pride. And their creator, Father. The villains are *literally* the “sins” of the “father.” I’ve been chuckling to myself for that one all this time and I’m honestly surprised nobody has called me out on it yet! XD
