Update!

Hi Guys!

So I've been busy! Not pictured are dozens of fully magnetised tiles, but what you can see is a rough idea of how they can be used :)

The first image is how they can be used with mountainblocks  - your river can be set into a canyon with ease, and the dirt tile corners can be attached to the back of tiles to allow for placing corner mountainblocks too. Or you could attach more dirt tiles to the back to widen the dirt bank area of the river...more on that later....

(test river tiles shown, these are not the final look!)

In the second image you can see how you can use the water tiles with other landscape tiles, everything from grasslands to caves to volcanic tiles and more in future :) The water tiles sit underneath the main tiles, which lap slightly over the top to give a grassy, rocky, volcanic (or whatever!) embankment, that then rolls down into the muddy waterside at a lower level, and in turn lower still to the water. Y'know...like real life 😁

you can use corner tiles as well as the little cliff side attachments I showed in the volcanic tiles video (but made for grasslands, caves and so on - part of a general improvement to landscape tile design...) to blend the square tiles into the watery bank in a way that curves naturally, and hides any seams with overhangs :)

Now, on to the water...In the next images you can see my colour experiments. I went back and forth with this a LOT, whether to go blue, green, brown, clear, turquiose...etc. My goal was clear - make it fit in all environments (grasslands, caves, volcanic, etc), all moods (evil castle/friendly village), and be clear enough to see the details beneath the water. there were a few other considerations, but they would be spoilery for other features... πŸ˜€

In the end, I narrowed it down to wanting a blue tinted green, mixed with brown, thin enough to see through. the first image shows my ending tests, and then the next 3, my final result, including how the river will look through it! Though, bear in mind the river bed will be undershaded too for additional fake depth :)

I LOVE this colour and I'm so happy I could take the time to experiment properly! its so damn realistic, it looks like real river/lake water and honestly should lead to some amazing results. The best news is - its easy to mix too!

Resin testing got a little delayed as I was waiting on a delivery (of tongue depressors for stirring, of all things) so I got some tile mass production out of the way in the meantime. The next stage will be testing the resin proper!

I also have a trick to use less resin on deep tiles....but we'll see if that pans out πŸ˜‰

Hope this satisfies some curiosities - I aim to have more to show off soon!

Haha! Glad I didn't disappoint! 😁

I just found your channel recently with your city tiles episode (holy cow they are sooo good), and my first thought after binging most of the rest of your content was, "I want to see him do river tiles." Lo and behold.

I saw the Mountain-Blocks and thought you changed your mind πŸ˜‚ - kiding… looks Great!!
