Secret Project Reveal! Good News Everyone! :D

Hi guys!

This has been so hard to keep secret! I've been working with a sculptor to have 3d printable STLs made for the system 😁

As you can see, I've started with doors, windows and shutters - these all fit perfectly in the existing magnetic building system (exterior AND interior walls!), they're designed to line up perfectly with foam cut to my templates :)

As you can see, I also made some other additions that I thought would make your experience that much better, including TONS of variants:

These doors all have a slit on the back left for wire to make them magnetically attachable as I show in the updated stone walls video :)

Windows too, have a circular variant, though in this case it's because the sculptor got excited and threw one in for free (Fabio's a gem!). The diamond pattern also comes in thick and thin varieties, the pattern printed fine on my printed thin most of the time, but it is rather fragile until sealed.

Speaking of which, as you can see the windows are split, so you can put some clear plastic packaging in between and superglue them sealed! then you can use dabbed gloss varnish to add a really nice medieval glass effect, with or without coloured wash staining (army painter has a really nice green and rose red) as desired...

While on windows, I decided to add some extra details you can add if you want. These sills work just by cutting an extra 1/4" from the bottom of the current window holes, and gluing that on to the existing removable stone insert that hides them when not in use :)

They also have slits in the bottom to overlap the steel wire neatly, and a space in the bottom to add  nickel strip. you can then embed a magnet to the bottom of the window gap, and the sill will magnetically connect! or you can glue a cocktail stick to the bottom and make a hole - both work!

Again, wood and stone variants for houses and castles respectively...

Then there's the shutters! these are loose so you can permanently attach them to any dioramas or non modular buildings you make, but can be superglued to a sill while in position - the sill will hold the shutters against the wall, overlapping at the front sides so it looks 'attached', while still being removable :)

and of course, a fancy variant for the nobles...

And finally, I saw an opportunity and I couldn't resist - the mimic! This mini is perfectly sized to our doors in this system, so you can just remove a door and place the mimic, and it'll look like it burst out of the wall!

When designing this, I referenced a ton of source material about how mimics are supposed to work, and came across this line:

"They then attacked their victims by using a powerful adhesive secretion to trap them, while also employing their strong pseudopods to attack and further restrain the creatures' movements. The adhesive, which was also a mimic's main means of locomotion, could be weakened by the application of alcohol over a few seconds, and was completely neutralized less than a minute after the mimic's death."

I always wondered how mimics were meant to move, they're slower than most creatures, and mimics with legs always looked a bit silly to me. reading this, I realised they'd look perfect as a kind of slimy ambush predator, moving like a slug or snail along the same adhesive slime they trap their victims with...which would also make an awesome extra statblock feature, any 5ft area they travel over is adhesive and requires a strength save to avoid being grappled!

Movement aside, it also gave me this awesome visual of a mimic with a sticky tongue like a chameleon, striking from ambush and pulling its victim in! So, I decided to make one final addition - a victim for the mimic, an unfortunate level 1 adventurer on his way to a horrible fate!

Both mimics are available in both gaming scale AND 75mm for a diorama! There's a lot of detail on these minis, and plenty of opportunties to play with slime effects using gloss varnish, resin and uhu glue!

So that's what I've had cooking for the last month! And this is only the beginning - I plan on having releases like this as often as I can get them cooked up! In the longer run, I'm aiming to drop these monthly, but for now it'll be 'when they're ready' :)

I also don't plan on selling these on MMF or in any way except as patreon rewards - they are for you and you alone! They will only be available for a month, but I plan to do throwbacks in some form so new patrons can grab them. in the early days I'll probably just throw in one recent set to each month, but I've got other plans in the long run, I want to make it a fun reward for support, not a shop...

Speaking of rewards, to make sure future releases of these are well funded enough (it's expensive to get done!), and also to make sure its clear who is interested in them and who isn't (so people aren't paying for something they don't want), I'm thinking of splitting the releases.

So questgivers get the basics like the basic door, window and shutter, and the old family nobles and above would get the full release - As I say, this is the fairest way I could think of to make sure it's possible to support the channel while not paying for 3d printed stuff if you don't have a printer, and make sure the STL project has enough resources to keep making more in future for those who do!

This is also part of the reason I'm updating the website, as a way for you guys to access your STLs without having to download them all each month. It's not running yet, but that's the goal to make life easier :)

I hope this has you guys intrigued and excited! the video is closing on completion, I've got some shots to redo, clips of the completed STLs to grab, the sponsorship (Which helped pay for this!) to get done and the final editing to do - but we're close now! it's also a massive 25 minute video rammed with awesome tips for beginners and intermediates alike, with a few things in there for you experts hopefully too :)

On that note, the next video will be a bonus video - updated magnetic temple blocks! AND will include another STL release, this time focusing on printable versions of gibbets and bannerpoles, among other things (still undecided!)

I can't wait to see what you think! Let me know in the comments, I'm nervous as hell 😅

They will come in supported and unsupported :) I'm not planning on uploading to mmf as I don't intend to sell them. I don't want this to be commercial, these are a reward for patrons who support the channel on a reliable basis and let me run the channel with a stable income. I'm getting a website made that will allow me to share the files much as mmf does in terms of you can download it when you want, so uploading to mmf would be a massive pile of extra work I don't need :) I'll be doing throwbacks so new patrons can access older files, and I have plans to make this easy to access so new people don't have to wait around necessarily - I just need to get everything set up first! I really can't stress enough how much I don't want this to be commercial - this is a thank you from me to you guys for enabling me to achieve this, and a way for us all to make our hobby easier. The more support I get, the better stuff I can afford to have made for the benefit of all of us :)

I like the Idea a Lot. Making Detailed Terrain is Easier/Faster using foam. but I think its also good use of Time to print high detailed smaller addons in parallel on the Printer ! I Love the idea. and cant wait for them to be available Btw. will the files come in both raw and Pre-Supported & have you thought about Sharing the files simply via "www.MyMiniFactory.com" ? - Most of 3d Printing Patreon Services share their monthly releases via MMF. Also you could then sell the releases there for higher price while still remaining the best deal to your Patreons here

I'm aiming to release them at the start of next month, then hopefully I can keep releasing packs monthly :) If stuff gets delayed though it doesn't change anything but improve quality, the same monthly budget will get put in regardless :)

These are epic!!!!! When can we expect the files to be released?
