Here's a photo with quite a bit of history. Something a little different from our usual posts. This shot was made around 2005 or 2006. It wasn't intended as a self-portrait, but there I am with our old gold Dodge Grand Caravan. This van was later acquired from us by Kelsey Dylan, who named it Cornus Vanadensis (she's a botanist). Most important, and the real reason for the photo, is our late, beloved cat Rupi, up on the roof. Rupi was a teenage stray, living under the back deck of the building when we acquired it. She was loving, but she was also prone to bite. 😼 She actually traveled with us quite a bit, including to San Diego, Seattle and Las Vegas (by commercial airliner, in the cabin with us). She also accompanied us cross country in a big U-Haul van when we made our move to Woodstock from Phoenix. (Btw, Rupi was named after Ian Anderson's cat, Rupi, who was featured on the cover of his 2003 album 'Rupi's Dance'.) We lived upstairs and ran our gallery downstairs in this building for several years, which was an old barn built in the mid 1800s and modified to be an apartment and retail space. It was the barn for the farmhouse that is barely visible on the right side of the photo. The portion you are seeing in the above photo was added on in the 1950s. It was a great place to live and work. The building is currently for sale. It's sad, but it's also time.
A few of you expressed some interest in the building. I just added a new photo showing the entire structure.
