So many others dismiss this episode because it didn't have much to go with regards to action, but it provided us with so much insight to Reiner/Bertholdt/Ymir's perspectives that it shouldn't be one to miss. Love the conclusions you are drawing from their conversations.

I can see Im being torn here. On the one hand, Reiner and Bert is the cause of all this and killed thousands. But judging from their mental state, there is the huge elephant in the room of why they are doing this. They don’t seem evil, they don’t do this because they want to. I remember watching this episode and couldn’t stand it and almost gave up waiting to read the manga.

You got what was being said about Reiner, but yeah he has Disassociate Personality Disorder. That's why the whole Soldier/Warrior dynamic is so important for Reiner's character. If you notice his voice changes based on which personality he's currently running on. At least that's how it is in this episode. I'm not sure if they did that in earlier episodes, but I love that about the voice acting in this. The shouting match is also a classic scene when it comes to top notch acting.
