The beginning. Where Gabi explains Falco what they are doing now.

NB

What do you mean by exposition ?

Junior Zegarra

Lol almost felt necessary, its like an inspired approach would have deducted from the fast pacing

Wolves

I disagree. The pacing is amazing and I am a manga reader.

Raykel

The exposition in this was so uninspired. Hats up for not commenting on it/focusing on the episode content more

k.lam

Filmbuff: starts making theories Me: nervously sweating.

Trung Ta

Pretty much everything has been good aside from some minor cuts in one certain episode such as training and small dialogue, nothing hugely important. Everything that was vital to the story was adapted, the same scriptwriter from previous seasons made it so it would have been the same regardless of whichever studio made this season anyways. Atleast they got a lot better than cutting a LOTT more in the uprising arc. Though anime onlies wouldn't be aware which is fine knowing that they're getting the essentials and could read it if they would want to once the anime finishes

Christopher Rodas

the pacing is not good lol especially in the third ep a lot of things got cut

Netero

People that complain about the difference between the manga and the anime is why I’m an anime-only for the most part. I usually want to see it animated before I read the manga (if I even do that) so I won’t feel a distaste for it when watching like you seem to. So far I think the pacing has been perfectly fine (especially for an anime) and the story is still intriguing. A lot of other people feel the same way I do too, but we all have our opinions.

Chelly

Armavel, I found episodes 2 and 3 to be farcical and borderline unwatchable, but I did like episodes 1 and 4 a lot. I guess that means the rest of the season has a 50-50 chance of winning me over, fingers crossed that it does 🤞

R A

I am an anime-only but I have been absolutely loving this season so far. The pacing might be much different compared to the manga but hopefully Im still enjoys the show.

Rich

Honestly I understand where you're coming from, and I respect it, but I personally disagree. As much as two chapters per episode being adapted is quicker than usual, they've been handling it pretty well, sure things here and there are getting cut but that's necessary. Everything that's important and vital for both the story and characters have been included to the best that they can, from what I can see. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the pacing's been with them fitting 2 chapters per episodes. So, in my opinion, the adaptation has been able to do it pretty damn good justice. But to each their own.

AutomoTomto

First time I am hearing this opinion. I love the adaptation and I think some things are even better than in the manga.

Zero 陰陽

Interesting, you're the first person with such a circle of friends that I've come across too. FB attracts all sorts of fans, I reckon. At any rate, I hope he decides to take a look at the manga on his own time.

R A

If the anime goes like that it's because isayama wanted man. for the moment the adaptation is fine

Jaider Triana

For this moment, anime adaptation for 1,2 and 4 episodes is better than source material imo.

Armavel

I switched browsers (from Firefox to Chrome) and it works now! I'm guessing it has to do with how embedding works, since I'm assuming you want to prevent it from playing outside of Patreon; it's probably one of my Firefox add-ons or settings interfering with it. Thanks for following up with me, and love your content as always!

Al

You're like the only person who I've heard that thinks that way. I'm an anime only but pretty much all of my friends are manga readers, and they say the pacing is great. The only thing I've heard people complain about is the CGI, with which I personally have no problem.

GeorgeYTG

As much as I enjoyed this first episode, I don't think the manner in which this season has been paced is fitting for this arc. The meditative, almost languorous quality of this setting is lost in MAPPA's rash editing, which simply does not allow for any moments to breathe. It's not noticeable in the action sequences, but for those that have read the manga, the adaptation of this section of the story sadly falls flat in the quieter, introspective sequences. It's very unfortunate since MAPPA's art, in spite of the CGI Titans, is incredible. I know FB's reactions are anime first, but I wish he could have done reactions to the manga for the final season instead, because thus far, the adaptation has been unable to do it justice.

R A

Yeah you can totally watch the OP

Sarah S

Hey, oh no need to apologize ✌🏼 Is it still giving you playback issues ? Are you trying on PC or Mobile ?

FILMBuFF

@marco oops u right - I mean I prefer the WIT’s style for the 2D mindless titans over MAPPA’s. WIT’s have a little more flair and character to them

Sarah S

Yeah, with the exception of a few awkward moments (Porco coming to Reiner's rescue is the biggest one) the CGI was surprisingly well-integrated considering how many constraints the studio had to contend with for the final season.

R A

Mindless titans are 2D

Marco

No offense, but although my analogy is about historical facts of our world, it's meant to shine a new light on the aesthetic and setting of the show. Unless your comment explores some aspect of the show, please refrain from dragging this out into too long a debate, at least in my replies.

R A

@shady oh for sure, the MAPPA CG has been leagues better than WIT’s CG. I’m truly ok either way with 2D or 3D as long as it looks solid. Gotta say tho that I do miss the mindless 2D titans and 2D Armored which in particular was my favorite Titan design. All good tho!

Sarah S

I don't agree with most of the Israeli policy in the Palestinian territories. Regarding the wall- it stopped incursions of suicide bombers into Israel. It's sad, but that's reality.

Guy David

Man I literally never comment or even subscribe to users on Patreon but you catch things no one does and your reviews are impressive. Keep up the good work!

Moustafa Taib

Have to give them props for making the CGI on the titans look decent. If we have to have CGI titans, I'd take this over season 3 colossal any day. Not dissing WIT either, everything else was amazing, but just... season 3 colossal...

Miss Mewiththat

hi I was wondering why you would think the analogy is wrong. I believe its pretty good comparison. Nowdays the way Israel is using US military and how they are treating Palestinians by LITERALLLY putting A WALL between themselves and Palestinians.

Naz

I think you are overreaching. Israel receives financial aid from the US (which must be used to buy from American industries) but it fights its own wars, and has a mandatory enlistment law at the age of 18.

Guy David

I'm getting "Sorry Because of its privacy settings, this video cannot be played here." - how do we play the video? Sorry for the question

Al

Yes, both op and ed are spoiler free

Miss Mewiththat

I’d usually suggest anime-only people to rewatch the episode and try to pick up the little info drops throughout that explains the context of what’s happening. But I have no doubt Im has already got the gist of what’s going on.

Muhd Zulhilmi

It is.

Is it okay to watch the opening, please? I have always skipped it in case it contained spoilers but if Im watched it, it means that no one told him not to and that it's okay?

Taekom

Yeeeeeeees

Theo Traumato

It's a factual and historically well-founded analogy, and a fully accurate claim. Everyone is welcome to read up on the Office of Special Plans, the writings of Gareth Porter, Justin Roimando, Ry Dawson, and American neocon policy outlines, etc. to see said analogy borne out by truth. My focus is on this anime series and I prefer to talk about the narrative with a subtle awareness of historical context that goes beyond the aesthetic trappings of the series in order to give people food for thought.

R A

Finally, after 3 years of waiting, Im has caught up with the Anime. What a time to be alive

drkm9

Disclaimer, am Israeli. I have to drop in and say the analogy has a basis but is mostly incorrect. Israel has seen many wars before the US went with troops into the Middle-East. This is off-topic but for whomever reads this, best advice as always is to look it up and reach your own conclusions, there's just too much of history study to fit in a comment.

Guy David

Finally you are soon up to date with us!

Ck Otaku

WE’RE FINALLY HERE 😭 LET’S GOOO

Taku

Still cannot believe you're here

Sloopgamer

Yep it’s a new studio MAPPA! I personally like their direction more than WIT’s, and they make some cooler artistic choices over the previous studio, but I still prefer the old Titan designs to the new ones. I think the new studio is doing a great job so far

Sarah S

OMFG, I JUST CRIED REWATCHING THIS EPISODED WITH YOU!! So many emotions man!!!

Pedro Augusto Pequeno

The ED reminds me of the old iTunes visualizer lol. Glad to see you here at the new season.

Conor Donnelly

I find the manner in which Marley enlists guilt-ridden Eldians to fight their wars in the Middle-East against the Mid-East Alliance of Arabs to be pointedly analogous to the manner in which the state of israel lobbies for and enlists the involvement of Western troops from America to fight wars against Arab nations in the Middle-East as outlined in the Clean Break Memo. It's a highly complex and compelling dynamic, and I'm interested in seeing FB's analysis of it going forward.

R A

It’s not up yet, should be available around 9:40ish pm

FILMBuFF

Where is the review part tho? Am i stupid? Can't find it
