You might not find them to be terribly accessible to you, but Sir Derek Jacobi has actually returned to the role of The Master in the Big Finish Time War runs. It goes through his time during the Time War as “The War Master.”
I wouldn’t recommend them now, we might need to get you a little further (up to series 8) to avoid any possible shoulders, but Big Finish actually does a LOT of EXCELLENT Doctor Who stories (audio dramas). Something to look into for the future.

These 3 series have each re-introduced a recurring villain from classic Who: The Daleks in series 1, the Cybermen in series 2, and now the Master

The Master is essentially the Doctor's oldest childhood friend turned archenemy. He first appeared in 1971 alongside the Third Doctor, and has appeared alongside pretty much every Doctor since
