Customized Imgur Album - AoT 4x3

Update - Decided to hold off on it till after the season is finished (The projected 16 episode run for this part)

Hey everyone ✌🏼 just wanted to clarify that I haven’t actually checked out the handpicked manga panels yet. I plan on checking them out before I record episode four in a few days, and then have a section for that in the post episode discussion. I will post a link to the album for transparency, so people can see exactly what I get to see. Also, there will be a few that will be foaming at the mouth when they hear about me reading manga panels, you know the crowd 😆 so it was important to me that I keep this one time thing quite transparent.

These are handpicked and sent through a customized Imgur album, I didn’t look for it myself. It was specified to me that this is just a one time thing for Episode 3 and that it would not be done again for the reminder of the season.

As always, taking all precautions to stay spoiler free ✌🏼

Comments

Sorry for your confusion. My explanation would have been poor or not right. I DO want you to read the manga but just not now. I was kind of confused about you who always avoid a spoiler stuff hardly want read the manga at this point. Then I thought you may have been not satisfied with info from the anime to make your theory. So tried to tell you that prediction is not my favorite part of your reaction and you do well already so you don’t need more. Anyway, I’m sorry for making you uncomfortable.

dobley

i just wanna apologize to the anime only lmao, the discussions within the reader/anime community is so toxic right now Manga readers, I get it, we are extremely excited and wish for this great guy to understand everything fully. But it's hiw own journey through the story, so let him enjoy it as he seems fit ! Special thks to the dude who created the several panels for him though ! Nice gesture !

Gaïa New Gate

@Sarah Stewart Completely agree. Adaptations are almost always slightly disappointing at first to hardcore fans of the original work. That's just the nature of adaptations and shouldn't be held against Mappa. Just look at all the gripe that the Harry Potter movies got from the book readers but they're still good movies that lots of people really like.

Rory Borcherding

i swear ppl like him are the loudest it’s annoying but thankfully majority of the fandom, even if not as loud, still have some common sense that’s why this season is rated 9.16/10 in mal and 9/10 on anilist+ every anime only i’ve seen is enjoying the adaptation :)

Locus Coeruleus

yup if anything it’s the anti mappa who are pathologically toxic.. ppl need to understand that anime only fans are experiencing the story for the first time they won’t nitpick like manga readers do. anyways as the high ratings of this final season show majority of fans are enjoying the adaptation. it’s just the toxic minority who are for some reason angry that ppl are enjoying the final season and calling ppl “fake positive” and harassing staff members that are ruining the reputation of the fandom

Locus Coeruleus

That's the handicap of patreon. Since everyone here is actually paying and supporting the channel, you need to keep it cool for everyone... Anyways, can't wait for today's discussion!!

MikeBlue16

I thought this was still an amazing episode regardless of the cuts! I hope all the chat over the manga content hasn’t detracted at all from it. The series is just an adaptation and I think MAPPA did a great job. Can’t wait for discussion and it would be cool to get your thoughts on the extra content whenever you do get around to it!

Sarah S

it was just a copy paste george, but yeah ur right he isn't right in the head

Zero 陰陽

Zero, by writing essays you're just feeding the troll, he wants that anger out of you. So best to just ignore.

GeorgeYTG

Zero, I get the feeling you just get a rise from trashing up other people's replies, so I think I'll leave you to it. Best of luck with whatever you've got going on 👍

Elise Flanagan

Best course of action for your own sanity.

Squidlord

George I hope to God you're trolling😂 If not, please reread what you wrote, several times over

Elise Flanagan

"(I haven't posted anything else so idek what you're talking about)" this you?: "Elise Flanagan I'm not sure if you've ever gone over this, but if you've avoided the manga, this is the season during which I would most strongly recommend picking it up. Obviously you can't read it before the episodes, but I would advise you to read the manga chapters covered in each episode right after you finish watching it because as much as some people have flocked to MAPPA's defense, their adaptation is completely all over the place. Although WIT stumbled in their own right with peculiar choices (the Uprising arc comes to mind with its sleeping darts) MAPPA is betraying a much deeper blunt lack of understanding of the source material that fails to cut to the series' thematic quik and then some. Not only have they omitted critical lines of dialogue - the likes of which you would have most certainly picked up in your reactions - they've gravely fumbled the pacing of the season and of each individual episode. I'm not sure how you could go about integrating the manga into your viewing experience, but I hope you give it some consideration. You put far too much effort into these reactions and analyses, and with the way MAPPA is handling this season compared to WIT (I'm not at all interested in having a back and forth with MAPPA fanboys btw) it just doesn't seem right for you to wrap up the series with a focus on the decidedly lesser one of the two versions of the series, especially when taking into account just how good the Marley arc is in the manga. For all their errors, with the exception of Uprising, WIT never deviated from the spirit or substance of the source material so gravely that their adaptation felt less than the manga. In fact, in many parts WIT managed to elevate Isayama's work in surprising ways. Having watched the final season thus far, I feel that the same can sadly not be said for MAPPA. Just a thought, at any rate, I hope you enjoy the final stages of the series in their fullest! Zero 陰陽 I disagree Sarah stewart But it’s the same person handling the scripts/adaptation for both WIT & MAPPA though. We likely would have run into the same cuts regardless of studio. Not going into specifics on any cut scenes to avoid spoilers and the possibility we may see some of the cut content later though Trung Ta All I see from your comment is hate. Yeah I was a bit disappointed in the anime Marley arc too but that has to be done considering there's only 16 episodes and amount workloads from the studio. You gave next to no credit to Mappa which isn't true at all. Tsenoble You sound so bitter, things will need to be cut and I'm pretty sure Isayama is involved with the anime. Most people are still really enjoying this season and unfortunately for you it does not seem like you will. Muhd Zulhilmi While I understand the criticisms, dropping terms like “MAPPA fanboys” makes you sound like a fanboy yourself and totally devalue the points you were trying to make Åsmund Bergsbakk The part about omitting critical lines of dialogue, I have a feeling that some of them will show up at later episodes. MAPPA has stated that they are rearranging parts of the chapters for a better flow of the story. Ofc can't be sure until we have all the episodes Theo Traumato The pacing of the manga could never work in the show, it is laughable that you think MAPPA destroyed the pacing, you seem to have no idea about adapting a story from a medium to a total different medium. And someone else did wrote it: A lot of people working on season 4 are the same who worked before on the show INCLUDING THE SCRIPT WRITER. But I am curious - what are the core themes that got lost in this season, written by the same writer who wrote the seasons before? btw I could take your arguments way more serious if you wouldn't babble about MAPPA Fanboys - it just shows that you are a butthurt fan yourself IronWoodkid Mappa likes to move some scenes around so no, that's a terrible idea"

Zero 陰陽

You should definitely listen to your own advice, Elise.

Squidlord

I find it ironic that you say "it's just a cartoon" while paying 5$ just to create a troll account to push your agenda that a studio made that cartoon bad.

GeorgeYTG

Zero, honestly just get some help. It's not a good sign if you think every comment calling out MAPPA's failures has been posted by the same person (I haven't posted anything else so idek what you're talking about). But hey thanks for proving my point about the toxicity! I'm sure the hardworking animators at MAPPA will appreciate all the hard work you're putting into attacking disappointed fans on their behalf (in the replies to a patreon post, lest we forget that 😜).

Elise Flanagan

Not really Squidlord, people can think whatever they think, not my place to dictate to them like some hall monitor yk? But I will say this, you should take a deep breath, because it's going to be okay 😊 it's just a cartoon 😊

Elise Flanagan

u talk abt opinions but put ur own opinion on a pedestal by calling other ppl's opinions "toxic anti-criticism" or "defending mappa as a virtue", u should question ur own stuff instead of spreading hatred left and right. ur lacking response to all the objections in previous comment sections showed to me that u clearly can't engage in a discussion about the show itself.. keep writing the same comments under every video and call everyone who disagrees misinformed and toxic with those passive aggressive responses

Zero 陰陽

You're such a rebel, Elise! Fighting the good fight! You gotta let everyone know how "shit" the Final Season is amd how Mappa ruined AoT (fact!) even though nobody asked :) You go girl!

Squidlord

You seem to be some kind of authority here? Is this filmbuff's alt account freaking out at me? Either way, congrats on your opinion about my reply, however flawed and misinformed it may be, and congrats on all the likes too! I'm not here to farm likes, my personal life is pretty good 😊 but I'm happy for you!

Elise Flanagan

I know some are disappointed by this choice, but as Sephizen mentioned, there were objections to this idea as well. So the the best plan of action is to just wait till the 16 episodes wrap up, and then check it out.

FILMBuFF

also this isnt the place for criticism, go to imdb do a review or smth

Zero 陰陽

irrational hating is not criticism, u gonna post these under every episode from now on or what? because nobody seems to agree with you so far

Zero 陰陽

Quite confused by this response, I really do think you’ve completely misinterpreted the reason for this.

FILMBuFF

You're very worked up over an honest critique of a cartoon🤔. Hope your life gets sorted out soon! Maybe then you'll stop spitefully freaking out at people in replies to a patreon post for having different opinions

Elise Flanagan

ye keep hating on mappa under every post if it makes u happy

Zero 陰陽

anti criticism? u are just talking non-sense man.. calling this adaptation terrible is just delusional

Zero 陰陽

Zero, p sure I've seen you reply guy in older threads so I'm not going to engage beyond pointing out the irony in your post, which is itself a whiny reply to a patreon comment

Elise Flanagan

imagine hating on a show in patreon comments

Zero 陰陽

I work for the Department of Stopping People from Enjoying Things by Having Different Opinions. We get paid by the government to have different opinions, and this interferes with other people's dopamine and serotonin receptors to stop them from enjoying things.

Elise Flanagan

Why can't you just let people enjoy stuff?

Squidlord

Honestly, I was most saddened to see the update because Zem will just have his experience ruined with the anime season now. I enjoy his reactions, but I don't think he's just a content machine. He's not just there to make videos for us, he's someone that's following this series independent of the content as well. So sad that he won't get the best experience now. The anime has diverged from the manga in the past, most notably in the Uprising arc, but what MAPPA is doing is heartbreaking to watch.

Elise Flanagan

Oh man.. And I just saw the post and got excited too😅. Disappointing that the best arc will be ruined for you with a subpar adaptation, hope your mods can convince you to change your mind. At this point, a manga read-through reaction would be the best way forward considering how MAPPA is directing and pacing the season. There's also a highly toxic anti-criticism, pathologically positive section of people that demand everybody be grateful for the adaptation no matter how terrible it is, which is just bad for the medium as a whole. Bad stuff all around!

Elise Flanagan

First I'm hearing about this but this is honestly so awesome. The fact that you're willing to do this and you've got people that'll help with this makes me feel so reassured about the channel's quality! Tired of people that think defending MAPPA from valid and necessary criticism is some kind of virtue. Reminds me of the crowd that attacked Star Wars fans for calling out Rian Johnson.

Elise Flanagan

Update is unfortunate but up to you, I figured Sephizen only chose stuff that probably wouldn't ever come up again, just character depth stuff that would interest you since a lot was cut from Reiner's past to fit into an single episode. I know you live for that kind of stuff. I don't think it would effect the story going forward too much, just him as a character, but I guess enough people were against it.

ArtficialFlvrz

That's not it lol. This isn't him trying to prove how smart he is or anything like that. I don't get why some of you are so defensive about this, to an extent that he had to do this update. Why there's a problem with him checking out missing panels? To know the warriors backstory, to see their perspective, their hometown, the other side of the sea, is something he desperately wanted since season one. That's how badly he longed for this. And that's why it makes perfect sense for him being interested in those details omitted by MAPPA. He won't get any special or privileged info by any means, just some details for a deeper understanding of the characters, just this little bit of something he really looked for since the first season. And you're getting anyways his reaction only to what was shown in this episode. It really doesn't make any sense for you to be so defensive about this... Have a nice day

MikeBlue16

It hurts :/

Tatakuikui

Saw some objections to it so it's probably best to just hold off on it until later to not be divisive. He will eventually check it out though, so everyone gets what they want in the end.

Update - Decided to hold off on it till after the season is finished (The projected 16 episode run for this part)

FILMBuFF

I don’t agree if you feel like you couldn’t assume well because info in anime wasn’t enough and gonna try to make up for it by the manga. I know you’re incredibly smart. You don’t need to show it. What I wanna see is your feeling, opinion and emotion not a phenomenal prediction. The outstanding part of AOT is letting audiences to show very personal emotion from theirs inside. Not a quiz to make a guess about episodes from now on. If there’s some obscurity when you watch, it’s ok to put it aside and just wait.

dobley

@KimDohyung the irony of your comment lol.

TbcAlex

I like this idea because IMO the anime so far from the final season is a bit underwhelming compared to the manga. As long as the manga panels from the customized Imgur album are carefully selected and do not spoil you then I support this idea.

Hoi Lau

Idk Every time I finish a season of Attack on Titan I read the Manga after it and I will do the same for this season too.

Vax Merstappen

No the reason is because they didnt have time to animate it. Otherwise they could have left out the OP and ED for that

Raykel

Bless Sephizen, every anime only that's invested in Reiner's character needs to read the cut content imo

Yasha

wow 200+

Wolves

Seeing some of the cut manga stuff will definitely be enjoyable and I'm always in favor of show watchers reading it. I understand if some people want a pure critique of the show but I'm happy to trade that for a slightly more complete understanding of the characters/story.

Mark Claborne

@Shady not just that.... They left some key information (spoiler) in episode 2 about 2 characters which will come back later i think.

Muhammad Affan

@KimDohyung he's making a joke

Hypemaster

i honestly don't like this but whatever

jeyson Fritz

Hard to tell if the manga parts they skipped in episode 3 will be adapted in later episodes or not (as a flash back or sum). Mappa likes to move things around. It's 50-50. You never know

IronWoodkid

The panels that were cut does not affect the story in the grand scheme of things. But it adds SO MUCH more layers to the characters and story. And most of these are flashback stuff. People want Im to miss out on those ? I’m one to try to stay away from anything manga related here, but I’ll make an exception for this one.

Muhd Zulhilmi

Shut up dumbass

KimDohyung

MAPPA had to omit parts of the story in this episode 'cuz of episode/season length constraints. It's VERY unlikely the omitted parts are going to be adapted in future eps. So it's definitely fine for anime-onlies to check out those parts of the manga.

CY

I kinda agree with those who think you should do that AFTER the final season. We may be few but still lol.

MonkeyTrouble

I agree with this decision, as what was cut adds a lot more weight to the circumstances imo.

Jp

you are right, but still... for sure the studio + Isayama decided to omit them completely or to present them in the future maybe, nobody knows

mangacho

It's too late to bring them back now, they wouldn't fit anywhere

Shady

Well we can't be sure if this really is a one time thing, no one knows what Mappa might do with the rest of this season.. but let's hope so :)

Skyrider

To people who like to take in every detail and every bit of story those panels are very important so he should check them out

Hydro

Wait for the season to be finished to look at those panels please!

mangacho

Eh, I don't think he needs to read the manga panels. All the info is in the episode and easy to figure out anyway.

loveless

I aLwAys sAiD fiLmBuFf iS a maNgaReaDer

Philipp Bruche

Looking forward to your discussions as always. Keep up the good work!

Hydro

Episode 3 left out a portion of them breaching the wall

Shady

Yep, it was brought to my attention. Staying out of that particular comment section.

FILMBuFF

Do not read it if you are anime only

Zero 陰陽

Under full length

Zero 陰陽

where? i did not see any

Thanos D. Alexioy

Thing that were left out from the anime but are in the manga

Will Watches

I'm confused as to what the manga panels are for? Just to admire the art from earlier points in the story or...?

loveless

Patreon comments seem to have spoilers too..
