i really love how most of the characters here agreed that children should be kept out of the forest, and yet in those flashbacks they all agreed that historias children should have eaten their mother (except Eren) and thus they would have given the burden to the next generation which goes complety against AOT themes, children represent the future and they shouldn't be allowed to inherit the battles of the previous generation... very hypocritical

Netero

Will Im react to pt2 teaser?

salan

WHY do you hate her though? People who hate her never say WHY. Gabi is a perfect example of the opposite side of the Eldian Restorationists and what can happen as a result of the terrible situation eldians have been in. I feel like people who hate her don't think critically or just don't want to. also perfectly said @Coco

rayman

Yes, Gabi did indeed say "That devil woman must have bewitched you".

石原 悟

Another child, trapped in the forest. Hope you will find your way out someday.

[Apologies this is a repost, but I really want Gabi-haters to consider things from her POV.] Something I haven't seen discussed by reactors or in the comments (though Im has done a great job of pretty much describing exactly this) is that Gabi is not just stubborn but indoctrinated. She was brought up in a society where she is a second-rate citizen, under a doctrine that her race is evil and lesser, that the sins of her ancestors were so great they are inherited, and that the only way to atone is through selfless service to Marley to pay off this "debt". And yet despite that (or because of it) she's passionate, courageous, has a strong sense of justice and honour, and extraordinary willpower and drive which has served her well to become a very capable warrior candidate. So far in this season she’s managed several incredible feats, especially for a child. These are some great parallels to Eren (seasons 1 - 3, anyways), which enabled him to overcome insurmountable odds. Gabi has built her identity on becoming the best warrior to protect her family, reclaim pride in her race, and to champion her people. Being a “good” Eldian for Marley is foundational to her identity. We can see the gradual breakdown of this foundational belief as she finds herself living amongst the very enemies she’s sworn to kill. Her beliefs are being challenged as she is exposed to the reality that these island devils are just people, who can show compassion, empathy and kindness. Kaya even directly questions why the sins of their forebears should hold present-day Eldian’s responsible, especially when this memory was wiped from the minds of the Paradisians. Now Gabi is starting to question her deeply held beliefs and experience cognitive dissonance. It makes perfect sense that her natural reaction when faced with this distasteful reality is to deny, project and withdraw back into the safety of "all island devils are evil." Her very identity and years spent training are now under attack. Can we not show some sympathy for such a difficult process, especially in today’s world? The last four years of US politics has highlighted how incredibly easy it is for people to have distorted views of realities, to believe propaganda and to bury their head in the sand when faced with the difficult challenge of reflecting on your understanding of reality. This show reflects the moral complexity in our world. Characters (main or secondary) all have some extraordinary depth or growth, and the beauty of this show is it doesn’t shy away from digging into the unsavoury ways humans handle life. That’s a big reason that sets it apart from other shows – characters are not just two-dimensional tropes. Look at Sannes, Marlo and Floch: all great examples of secondary characters people often discount or dislike, but who have poetic developments that bring greater meaning to the story. Hell, look at our main boy Eren and the drastic turn his character has taken compared to season one! I think if people can slow down and approach this show with some patience and emotional maturity, you are rewarded with appreciating the depth of human experiences, even those you may initially find discomforting. (As a side note I think this also extends to viewers’ impatience regarding “slow” episodes. When those “slow” episodes do come around, where not much seems to happen and it’s mostly set-ups and dialogue, instead of grumbling, enjoy the moment as it makes those exciting, fast and action-packed twists all the more memorable and beautiful.) [End repost.] This epsiode especially did a great job at further breaking down the indoctrination Gabi experienced. This is not a simple process; it's messy and emotional. She is going through incredible inner conflict. I can understand hating her, but I think the better path is to think compassionately, understand her character and appreciate the awesome drama it adds to the story.

Coco

If you think that's bad you should read the crunchyroll comments xD

Kebab

Abdullah Ali

I just hope the person writing this comment is under 18, or it's troublesome lmao

Gaïa New Gate

I think he was just straight up lying, "little bit of thuth"

Gaïa New Gate

Alrighty then.

Serodin

I hate Gabi so much man. I'm sorry I just can't feel for her at all. She deserves pain

Cyanide

That is also possible, I assumed they are Marlyain because of the uniform and not wearing bands, but they do not have to, so it could be possible that they are Eldians.

Hussain Alghazal

Fuuuvk another year of waiting though!!! Well ill have mha satiate me for a lil while.

Wolves

man I wish I didnt read the manga cause im not as exited..

ya ya

After a couple of years attempting it, I’ll finally get to watch with everyone else as it airs! 🤩🙌🏼 really excited about that

During willys speech When Willy said eren could begin the rumbling at moment, they showed a still shot of the colossal titans from the ground up and the sky above them is GREEN.. I thought it strange but but hearing Ims thoughts on how the greenish tint during the Ragako flashback could represent half truths.. it would be fitting considering eren most likely can’t begin the rumbling at any moment -as Willy declared to the world

B Flynn

They could be wearing gas masks because they are eldians.. possibly the same ones Zeke later turned into Titans to surround shiganshina in episode 3x13. I Still want to know where they came from but that’s my best guess

Part 2 of SNK the final season just got confirmed for some time around Jan 2022!

Rory Borcherding

Loving your commentary and the way you show these images regarding the subject you're dissecting.

Juuso Mäki-Kuhna

Absolutely love this episode. Easily top 5 of the season. Mr. Braus' speech might just be my favorite in the show. A little kindness and empathy can go a long way. Which is why I also love that Mikasa immediately goes to check up on Gabi after the situation is diffused and saves her from Kaya. She's been very distraught over Sasha dying, but that doesn't stop her from doing the right thing.

RaijinCloud

Regarding Pixis' quote, I think it's funny how he said a good lie has the truth mixed in. But for Zeke's, it was the truth with a little lie mixed in, that lie being Eldians getting paralyzed upon consumption of the fluid. Although, there is also the possibility that there was a paralyzing agent added to the gas on top of the spinal fluid. But the little lie still stands either way. Mr Braus is a big big man to be able to set aside his emotions and look at Gabi as a child in trouble rather than his daughter's killer. As a watcher, I personally don't feel the hate for Gabi but if I were in Mr Braus' shoes, I honestly don't know how I would react.

Muhd Zulhilmi

I haven't learned Japanese, but there is one line that I felt is a little bit off. When Gabi said "That devil woman bewitched you", but to me, it felt that Gabi was trying to say something like: She must have..., can someone verified that?

Hussain Alghazal

If they came by blimp, she didn't need to. Though she might have left with them either way.

Ideophagous

I think there is a possibility that the flashback they showed is true. It could be that they mixed the spinal fluid with a paralyzing gas weapon, this might also explain why the Marlyain soldiers were wearing masks since you don't need to protect yourself from the spinal fluid since Marlyain people are not connected through the Paths.

Hussain Alghazal

Once we got that flashback of Connie’s village I always assumed that Pieck was the one who escorted those Marleyan soldiers back to the shore, hence her absence at Utgard Castle.

Spooderman Xx[MLG]xX

That’s a great point!

Shiro

A lot has been said about Mr Braus, but what about his wife? They had a great understanding of each other. He passes the knife to her without hesitation, and trusting her completely. Man, what a great family Sasha had.

Ivan Chicharro

I wanted to, but unfortunately it wasn’t possible.

FILMBuFF

I think the gas might be what makes them freeze up instead of the spinal fluid, if that is true at all.

Tispy Wombat

Is there a chance he can do a double reaction of 4x14 and 4x15?

IronWoodkid

Hey Filmbuff! You said earlier that it'll be a possibility of a double AoT upload in March. Is this still a thing? :)

Misha Arkhipov

For me it’s 14 - 15 - 7

Michelle

Same! For me It's now 15 - 13 - 5 for top 3

Raghav

Keep in mind he hasn't watched 4x14 when writing your comments. He'll have to skip the comments here if you hint at things beyond this episode.

Damn only 45 minutes

Raymond O

I think this was my favorite episode of the season up to this point. So exciting through and through!
