Yeah after watching this for the first time I was convinced and understood why this show is so highly rated. Yeah it has a dark tone but as the story progresses for me the tone of the show combined with this unique soundtrack gave me world war vibes. in many cases I felt like watching a documentary on human nature from the darker days of humanity which is something I really appreciate. Also having great side characters is one of the strong points of the show. Cant wait to hear your future takes on this.

Ugh this is so sad. And why did her name have to be Nina? 😩 This went from incredibly happy to incredibly devastating in a second. 😭

Fmab is a true masterpiece

Ok I know this is ass backwards but I randomly decided to watch this reaction just to see how I feel about watching fmab and it has me really interested now, didn’t know what I was getting myself into today!

Not sure where that scene ranks in "darkest moments in an anime" but Tucker is certainly known as one of the worst dads. I remember watching this episode for the first time and having the exact same reaction as you lol, jaw dropped not even able to fathom what just happened.

Lmao "what in the fuck?" Caught me off guard.

Shou is definitely regarded as one of the most hated anime characters, especially for just a one episode appearance. I don't think any one-off characters hold a candle to Shou, even main villains who have done heinous things arent as hated as Shou

If you would ask the anime community about what is the most despicable thing done by a character this would be definitely high up there. I wouldn’t be surprised if it would be number 1 cause FMAB is just that popular.

I think it's the sharp contrast that does it. Going from a happy child full of life and joy to a grotesque, nightmarish animal in endless pain and anguish. It's like the uncanny valley. You can see what's happening but there's something so off and eerie about the creature that it's hard to comprehend.

We can officially say welcome to FMAB! Everyone’s reaction to this episode is ‘what the fuck’ so it’s pretty iconic and Tucker is definitely a contender for the worst father in anime. Which is saying a lot as there’s ALOT of shitty fathers in anime

Sacha

IIRC he's actually the only one to be depicted that way

lol I've also started watching FMAB recently and was likewise caught completely off guard by this episode. Wtf indeed, definitely didn't expect such a dark story line, and in ep 4 at that

Teya

'what in the fuck' yeah well said

So at the end of each manga volume, when a prominent character dies, the author does a little sketch of the souls floating up to heaven, Shou Tucker is drawn burning in hell.
