It’s a fun jaunt and not an awful episode by any stretch and like commented already it’s based on the first chapter in the manga. So the mangaka was probably finding his footing in the approach maybe. Or wanted the first chapter to be a big introduction.. but hey I don’t know 🤷♀️ Bizarrely the anime decided to make it seem that this is the first duel when it most definitely isn’t. It’s established that they have duelled before in the manga.
