Gotta say, I'm very impressed with Floch's and Connie's voice actors in this episode.

One of hardest to watch episodes.

Ian Mitchell

Yeah Omine and Shishido should absolutely return. They're my favorite directors in S4 and maybe just in AoT as a whole. Their work together with Hayashi has been my favorite since S1. Arakis's direction in S1 is obviously still iconic, and I still wonder sometimes how some moments in S2-S4 would've felt had he been as actively involved as he was in S1.

One thing that always sticks out to me when watching this episode is that Armin specifically gets shot in the mouth, making him unable to speak. Armin always tries to talk first but in this episode he gets robbed of chance to talk it out with Samuel and Daz and ultimately the situation ends in more violence. Apart from a few off-model drawings in the first half (specifically a few shots of Magath) I really like the visuals of this episode. Teruyuki Omine always impresses as an episode directer, especially when it comes to creating tension. The integration of 3D is really great and the action scenes at the end are very dynamic with fluid camera movements. Mappa improved so much in part two, I cant wait to see how part 3 is going to look. I really hope Omine and Shishido come back to direct some of the key scenes of part 3.

Also very excited about the Part 3 news! I prefer it so much over a movie, so I was quite nervous once we knew Part 2 wouldn't finish the series, which tbh should've been obvious from the start. The idea of a movie was just very popular in the community in general with the success of other shows that have gotten a movie, so I understand where the idea originated.

That final scene was really elevated from the manga. I really felt for Connie in that moment. Connie in general is something that this season has handled quite well and has definitely upped my appreciation for his character. The irony of him saying to Armin to "go and save some people" a few episodes back and he's the first to shed blood certainly hits hard. Well technically Hange was the first to kill her own, but I think the point still stands. I appreciate the Thors comment you made about Mikasa, it's always nice when other stuff you've watched gets referenced. Magath's scene is really special to me. I love his connection to Gabi and how he's started to always look for her reaction and how she's the one that sort of brings him back and really makes him realize how wrong it was to put these kids into these situations. Him addressing the 104th is great, but him talking to the Warriors is even greater. And the point he makes about remembering history might be the most important part of it all.

really excited for these last few episodes. heartbreaking to see these og characters come back only for it to end in tragedy with connie and armin at the forefront. connie's va was incredible, especially with his scream at the end. and loved seeing annie and reiner back in action once again!! been a while!
