Early Access - Death Note | Reaction & Review 1x37 "New World"

Mikami didn't feel the need to carry a piece of the death note on him unless he was told cause he fully believed that Light was God and that he would have been asked to hold one if he needed one. Now he did go against that to write Takada's name down but he did that in response to Light saying, "You know what you have to do in this situation" which kind of is like giving Mikami a vague order that's open to interpretation when really Light just meant do exactly what he said to do before. I think once Mikami realized Light was not the God he thought he was he no longer wanted to kill for him and chose to end himself either cause he feels remorse or to apologize to God for following a false idol or something. I like to believe Mikami was smart enough to know he was being manipulated as soon as he saw Light's true nature rather than just ending himself to give Light a way out. Light's only hope was if he had treated the people he used as tools with more respect and kept them around and entrusted them all with pages of the death note and had them monitoring the situation somehow. Regardless, I agree with your opinion of the anime adaptation and I appreciate that you finished the series.

2022-07-18 11:09:40 +0000 UTCI would really like to see your reaction to the manga. IN my oppinion the show kind of ruins the second half of the story. Also if you have read the manga. You can read some of the short story's the creator has made. All of them follow another person getting the deathnote. Even if you never read the manga. And even if you hate the second part of the show. It is worth sitting thru just to get to those short stories. And maybe even more stories to come in the world of deathnote? I think there is a lot that can be done in this world of deathnote. A horror story, maybe following someone who picked up a deathnote hunderds of years ago, a story more focused on the world of the shinigami so much is possible. Also i think for me personally i started liking the show more after having read the manga.

2022-07-17 13:45:24 +0000 UTCThere is something I've come to like from your content and it is your honesty, a couple of times I've watched series or movies hoping for it to get better, or just expecting more from a story that is clearly going downhill but that it would be worse if I just leave it without reaching the end. I mean, it's quite sad to see you disappointed at a series, but I truly appreciate your effort for even reaching the end, it makes your content extremely genuine.
2022-07-17 04:15:30 +0000 UTCI'd be interested in a review containing the manga as well, as I've never read it though I do know some details about it's ending. I think I first saw Death Note when I was 14-15 and was among the first 5 anime I had watched. I liked it quite a lot back then and didn't think much of or even really notice things like the pacing or certain characters being left by the wayside. Simply didn't have the experience of enough other shows storytelling at that point. I've seen a video before that goes over Near's plan and details how what Gevanni is stated to have done is mathematically impossible to accomplish.

2022-07-16 23:38:35 +0000 UTCI just had to catch this on early access! Thank you for the content IM. I’m not sure if you’ve made your position on this clear but I would certainly be interested in seeing this sort of reaction and/or discussion content but with manga if you do end up reading up some more Death Note, maybe more cutdown to just the interesting divergences. Though of course the one shot short story people mentioned I definitely think even more so could do well in such a format, I think people would be really interested in seeing your reactions and thoughts to that one. Same with those Shingeki manga panels that were cut from episode 3 of season 4, those about Reiner Annie and Bert’s time in Paradis. I actually read them after you mentioned them in your discussion and it’s crazy to me they left that out of the show, so definitely worth your time one way or another. Of course the greatest limiting factor for all this is time, you put much care into your products and so you have to divvy it fruitfully. But I thought I’d express my interest!

2022-07-16 21:15:55 +0000 UTCThe show has a special place in my heart. While it's certainly not perfect, I still think it's great. Because there are not many things that I enjoy more than two highly intelligent characters playing chess. When I think about shows like Game of Thrones, the parts I enjoy the most are the strategists playing the game. I always wanted more Littlefinger vs Varys or - thinking about Sherlock - more Sherlock vs Moriarty. And Death Note basically gave me that as a main storyline. The show went downhill in the third act, I don't think anyone denies that. But for the first 24 episodes or so, this concept felt like a wet dream for me. Also because I love both L and Light so much and couldn't get enough of them. Is it as brilliant as Fullmetal? of course not. That's my favorite anime ever. 😂

2022-07-16 16:20:52 +0000 UTCFor me, even as a kid, Death Note ended when L died... If you think of it that way is cooler IMO, lol. Yeah, in that ending Kira won.

2022-07-16 16:07:41 +0000 UTCKinda agree with people above. Although for now I see that this show is far from perfect, and bad things stick out a lot to me now, Death Note still has a special place in my heart. Just the concept, idea, mindgames, feel quite unique to all of anime. But the presentation of ending here, the last episode, is actually very good. I always remember the thrill I had the first time I watched it, a struggle between pitying Light, feeling disgusted with him, and feeling that 'greyness' about it cause he kinda dropped the crime rate and stuff like that. Can't wait for you to return to FMAB. THAT show no matter how many times I've watched it is always disgustingly perfect.

2022-07-16 14:47:42 +0000 UTCThere are some spin off/one-shot that take place after the end of the manga. The most recent one is "The a-Kira Story" a chapter wich take place in 2020. There's also the chapter 109 with an intrigue around Near.
