Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching this, very fun performances, but I do think it's incredibly silly haha. It's like Moffat's version of the most bombastic cheesy RTD stuff. I don't usually predict anything in shows, but even to me this one really felt like the obvious conclusion. I feel like I'm not on the same page as lots of fans who absolutely love this episode and this "twist". Still, fun! Also -- yes you're right, at the end of Season 3 I believe the Doctor and the Master discussed picking their own names.
