Yeah, I agree with the point about FMAB having great limited characters. It really helps to add to the world. Some other anime with great limited characters are Monster, Black Lagoon, and Katanagatari

2022-08-06 22:31:21 +0000 UTCWell I must confess that I am not that knowledgeable about those details, and I value being true to the original above all else. That said, I consider the dub removes a lot of what would feel like filler, so it seems it would be nice if just that part was fixed

2022-08-06 13:52:47 +0000 UTCRegarding the (timeless) Sub v Dub debate, I can only say that I completely agree with your thoughts. I can absolutely understand people who prefer the dub (especially if they watched the dub on first viewing), and there are some standout performances in the dub, but this idea that the original Japanese voice acting is sub-standard or of a lower quality is bizarre to me.

2022-08-06 11:06:27 +0000 UTCYuYuHakusho English dub may be ultra funny to natives, but it changes so much regarding a very prominent character that as a translator I regard it to be a complete failure. In attempt to localize they went too far. Author's intent is warped to make it suit whatever the translators wanted it to be.

2022-08-06 09:44:56 +0000 UTCThe only anime that I will ever argue that has noticeably better dub is Yu Yu Hakusho. Every other, including this one, are honestly only minor differences and it is ultimately a pointless debate. People should just watch what they feel like

2022-08-06 06:14:41 +0000 UTCGreatest take ever on Al mental state. He is a child, he never sleeps, that should be exhausting even for adult. I think noone mentioning that for this episode. When I was watching this episode for the first time I thought it was silly and convenient how Al gets tricked here. But thinking about it, it makes complete sense. Btw you were right, I'm watching dub for the first time, with you here.

2022-08-06 02:53:47 +0000 UTCQuite a few people do like Barry the Chopper. I guess it has to do with limited info on him. Yes, we know he's a serial killer, but it was presented as a bedtime story and it's not like we learn any gruesome details of his exploits. Told in a cheerful way. He's a very straight forward simple guy with no malice or hatred displayed. So while technically we know he's a very "bad guy" we actually see nothing of the sort. Except his killing of the guard but we've seen people die in this show already. Compared to what happened to Nina that guard was lucky in terms of what can happen in the show. We also see his partners being savagely butchered by Lust and co. So we even gain sympathy for them as they're killed by old time villains. Enemy of my enemy... sort of thing. So it's like a psychological trick being played on audience. Clearly victims of some gruesome rituals, getting their bodies stripped away, having nice interactions with protagonists, being killed by known villains, all those things contribute to us liking them. IMHO
