I always love watching people’s confusion while they watch this episode. It’s soo fantastically chaotic! And once the dust is settled you are just left scrambling trying to make sense out of all of this. We are most definitely placed in Ed and Al’s shoes in this episode. You are quite that Alex Armstrong is not that cut out for this line of work. What I really adore about Hiromu Arakawa’s writing is that no core character is left to be just a trope. Her core characters (and my word there are soo many!) will always have a hidden depth to them. Armstrong could have remained a ‘meathead’ and comic relief and called it a day. But instead she displays him as someone whose biggest muscle is in fact their heart and really struggles with the morality of his job and it’s people within it. It’s great stuff! There’s something very special about scenes that are just Ed, Al, and Winry. There is such care to make them simultaneously mature for their age but also very much teenagers that have known each other for a loooooongg time. Their scenes always bring a smile to face. I love how much you seem to be really loving the vast cast of characters in particular. I’m going to be very curious who ends up becoming your top characters by the end..
