Full Length - Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special | The Day of the Doctor
Added 2023-01-13 03:58:26 +0000 UTCIt's time!!!
So this episode was in 23.98 FPS, rather than the usual 25 FPS. I included footage every 5 minutes to help with any syncing issues.

Just finished this, had few syncing problems had to pause my laptop about 5 or 6 times cause my laptop was getting ahead of the reaction, even tho I paused the 50th on laptop to let the reaction get ahead so my laptop can catch up, it kept taking over and being ahead,

Whenever I bought the 50th anniversary boxset, it came with the slower 23.98fps version, and having a keen ear for the soundtrack, I noticed even in the opening scene with Matt hanging from the TARDIS that the music seemed slower. I believe they rectified this with later releases of the boxset, but I was able to send my disk to the BBC and they sent back the corrected 25fps version. It's definitely annoying syncing with some reactors as if you're playing them side by side as you do have to adjust every few minutes as it slowly falls out of sync.

2023-01-13 07:20:32 +0000 UTCEver since I saw your reaction to Peter in Fires of Pompeii, I knew that this episode and especially THAT SCENE was going to be something special, just finished the reaction now so might write up a longer thing later but AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THE EYEBROWS ARE HERE

2023-01-13 07:02:51 +0000 UTCNot sure about the actual reasoning behind it, but I assume that the affect isn't noticeable since it's just a frame or two, but that can build up to a lot as time passes. The more frames something has per second the slower it is, and the 1.2fps difference causes it to, yknow, go out of sync. I used the BD footage to sync up with the video and that seemed to work (Any syncing issues were because I'm awful at pressing play at the same time as Im). Maybe try that if you haven't? Or check with Im what exact version he's watching.

2023-01-13 07:01:18 +0000 UTCCan you explain this to me like I've stupid? Why is the FPS seemingly affecting the runtime? Wouldn't it just affect how choppy/smooth it looks? I've been trying to watch and it keeps slipping out of sync

2023-01-13 06:33:46 +0000 UTCGoing to watch after the shorts, but the thing about the FPS is the bane of every full length reaction's existence. Iirc, it's different between the BD and Amazon Prime/streaming services.

2023-01-13 04:32:02 +0000 UTCStarting the reaction now. It's not as though I haven't revisited the episode before, but man it still brings back memories. Like I've said before this was the first episode of Doctor Who I watched alongside everyone else for the first time. There was so much anticipation I could feel even though it was only months for me. But those months were filled with a lot of rewatches and completely immersing myself in everything to do with the show. Even travelled to make it to an exhibition and convention. I've always hated waking up early, but for the 50th Anniversary I did it so I could watch live and it was one of the most exciting mornings I can remember. Really glad you've kept with this show
