I've always just figured it's because the container is literally "built different". If his glaring weakness is that he dies outside of it, his container NEEDS to be tough.

Pride is by far the creepiest homunculus. The fact that it is child creeps me out and his true form looks scary as shit. And the way he licked his lips (twice!) before he ate Gluttony is so disgusting. Yikes.

Storyboard – Iwao Teraoka https://i.imgur.com/fiIL7E8.png Oh man, does Teraoka miss? I’m not sure he does. I kinda love how Pride was portrayed in this episode. The contrast with the vessel and its true persona are definitely in the limelight here. Really liked the top right shot in the above collage; the guy devours his own siblings without a second thought and gets his shoes from the kids section 😭 A big chunk of this week’s episode was animated by Production I.G, bringing in names like Takuma Ebisu, a close personal friend of Arifumi Imai, who are both quite known for their work on Wit’s Shingeki. I believe I’ve brought it up here before that Wit Studio was formed from one of I.G’s subsidiary studios. Many talented freelancers are also present, such as Takashi Kojima, the man who soloed the newest Shingeki opening, as well as Ibata Shouta and Atsushi Okuda, both of who have worked on the Evangelion reboot films, the latter working as one of the supervisors in the first two films. All of their work was overseen by one of the show’s main men: Tetsuya Kawakami - more recently known as the character designer and chief animation supervisor on Eighty-Six. That doesn't make much sense to me. For example, they showed Ed with half his leg gone after they attempted human transmutation. You could see blood. Ed was very young at that point and there was no problem showing gore 🤔🤔

I always thought the reason why Pride had no injuries or blood whatsoever was because he's a child and they couldn't show gore. I could be wrong though

Last episode that you were talking about you liking Gluttony so much I just thought "next one will be sad" lol but yeah I also felt bad for him, eaten by his oldest brother, calling for Lust.. Him and Sloth just going along with what their father told them to do really The homunculus are all so interesting. Roy really creating his image of womanizer and all that when he was just visiting his foster mom and foster sisters haha.

Poor Gluttony, he barely even felt like a villain. He was always more reminiscent of a child being told what to do by his parents than anything else, which is ironic considering how he was killed by something that appeared to be a “child” but is actually nothing of the sort. RIP 😔
