April FMAB replacement poll options

Hello everyone ✌🏼

For those who will be around for April, these are the three options I plan on going with the longer Anime poll.

The poll will begin on April 1st, and the winner of the poll will have uploads twice a week.

Comments

It's my favorite anime, it's got so much incredible depth and fresh ideas, only problem is its 52 episodes.

Wesley Owens

would love to see hxh but monster is so good too

Emily Zhang

very excited for all three of the shows

trlmssb

Interested to see how this poll goes. I’ve only seen the first episode of HxH and never seen the other 2. I need to catch up lol

A

I don’t think it would stand much of chance against HXH and Monster in this poll. Its not no my watchlist at the moment, but that could change at some point.

FILMBuFF

Indeed it will be more for Anime that might be airing at that moment.

FILMBuFF

Yeh, knowing that HXH and Monster were some of the most requested, I knew there’s not much point to make it a five poll option for the sake of it. I did want to put Ippo on there though to gauge where it stands.

FILMBuFF

Yep 2011

FILMBuFF

That being said, Monster is also a top choice.

Oswin

I'm gonna be repping Ippo, HxH and Monster are both great but Ippo is a great introduction to an anime genre that you don't see much of in the west. Also because it's the closest I'll get to Ashita no Joe reactions.

Oswin

All of these shows are dope, personally hoping that HxH wins 🤞

john ross

All the options here are real full-bodied shows lol can't go wrong with them. I understand people are concerned about the longer shows but I do recommend you get to them sooner or later

Neutr0n

I will eat my left foot if HxH doesn't win. Monster is fairly known among the anime community but it doesn't even have nearly one-tenth of the presence and rabid fanboys raving about each and every episode/character. In my eyes this poll is already decided, that's just how overwhelming popularity works. I think Mob lost to EVA for different reasons. Im fanbase is more about recommending him "analytical/deep lore" series he can latch on and dissect so I'm not sure how applicable that is to most shonen series. HxH isn't a bad replacement for FMA;B and I don't think the series will disappoint him but that's left to be seen. Hopefully it will garner much need attention on the channel and bring a lot of new fans but even if that doesn't happen either way he's captivated by Togashi's writing, the love and passion he put into Hunter x Hunter, and the world itself and all the amazing characters. Honestly SOS's reaction to HxH back in 2018 was NOT very good, they dropped the ball hard especially on the good parts or key moments. I'd say very few reactors have a proper discussion about the series. Blindwave was terrible also. Heatah and Hustla was great and so far LM reactions are doing very good and already fell in love with the series. Not much else to talk.

Kon

Facts. I got what I wished for. Either way I'm happy so I can't complain.

Kon

Hmm I get that. I also think an obvious solution to this predicament would be to consider doing movie reactions, each movie is perfect for having variety and something for different viewers plus without the long running form of a tv series. They also seem to be super popular and get a ton of views in reaction youtube (ever since like covid in 2020 they are all the rage). I feel like each film would be like a much needed injection of life to your youtube, bringing in different audiences and helping you grow. Just like different shows would, but at a much faster rate and probably much more views. The only downside I can think of is the lengthier editing time (maybe you can start off with like once a month and work your way up as the channel grows, or hire an editor I dunno) It's just that whenever I watch a movie reaction from a super successful channel (for eg:- James vs Cinema) I think to myself man, this would be 10x better if Im with his immense knowledge of film and storytelling and analytical skills did this!! It's a crime that his channel isn't as big as these others! (it's literally called Filmbuff for god's sake)

Shiera Seastar

If Monster were to win now, then in the next poll someone else would be saying that it's not time for Hunter x Hunter because it's so long. When would it be the time for a 100+ episode long-runner if not the present? The show isn't gonna be any shorter a year from now. Ctrl+F'ing it in the thread from last November gives me dozens of matches; your comment being one of them. The point of the post was to see what people would like to see on the channel, hence the "gauging interest." The poll hasn't even started yet and many think HxH has won it. I did this exact same mistake last poll thinking that Mob Psycho, one of the most popular anime of recent years, was gonna make it look like this year's EPL golden boot race, and yet here I am, six episodes deep into an Eva rewatch. I think Ippo is on the poll because Im wants to watch it, and/or see how it'll do on the poll so that he can figure out what kinda opposition he wants to put it up against in the future. Similar was figured out last time; Ergo Proxy won't be up against Mob next time it's in a poll. And Legend of the Galactic Heroes is a dialogue driven space opera novel series full of politics. It's as much of a shounen manga as this keyboard I'm typing with.

HXH and Monster were some of the most requested in that survey post I did a couple of months ago.

FILMBuFF

I hear ya, but you’ve got to remember that LM reactions is a channel with 200k+ subs, they are in a position to do less series but still get an immense amount of views. I’m still in a growth phase on YouTube, I need some variety to have a bit of something for different viewers.

FILMBuFF

I feel like the timing isn't right for Hunter x Hunter. Don't get me wrong, it's my favorite anime of all time, PERIOD. Despite the anime being incomplete and the manga still running on long-hiatuses, I still consider it a masterpiece...but it's 148 episodes long. It will take well over a year while Monster with 74 episodes will take less than half the time. It's a big commitment and a series that gets better with each passing arc with relative slow pacing. I don't even know what Hajime No Ippo is doing on the poll because it's not winning against neither stellar series. Also any poll including HxH will be automatically decided. I personally feel like you should do more separate sections for poll options and have someone knowledgeable help you out pick good choices so it's more fair. I'll vote for Monster this time I'm more intersted in your immidiate reaction and commentary to this old classic.

Kon

I will probably end up voting hxh but im slightly thinking monster because it’ll be two a week so wont take too long and I’ll have a reason to finally check it out. We all know hxh is going to win on whatever other poll its on if it doesn’t win this one(even though it probably will)

Jonathan baez

Monster = 74 eps Ippo = ~125'ish..? (multiple seasons, ovas, some recaps) HxH = 146 eps (excluding two recaps, eps 13 and 26) My own vote's on Monster anyways, but if I was more on the fence I think I would've sided with it just because of the above; the next poll would come around faster. Monster would be on the channel until early 2024. Ippo would be on the channel until summer 2024. HxH would be on the channel until late 2024. (assuming there's no massive real life surprises for you) But whichever it is: https://i.imgur.com/Sphkoiv.png

It feels bad cause it's like the burden is on FilmBuff to represent quality media at the cost of easy views (don't misunderstand, BOTH series are wonderful. hell look at my display picture).

Isaac

No Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex in the poll? You'd love it.

Wesley Owens

Monster has to win. HxH is goated as well but Monster has so little content on YT and it's just right at his alley

Sabás González

Same thoughts exactly

DennisAnimeFan

I actually haven't watched any of these, though I am vaguely familiar with HxH..I'll guess I'll pass on the voting

Olga

yeah Kaguya definitely, it's more than just some silly romcom. Spy x Family is fun and all but tbh I'd rather Im watch it in his own time. If he started reacting to it I'd probably skipped those reactions.

KotBegemot

I know Im himself is probably hoping for Monster. And I'm sure he'll love it. But to me it was kinda underwhelming. I enjoyed some parts of it a lot but by the end I was kinda forcing myself to finish. I'd be down for rewatch in Im's company though. But what I personally want is HxH, I just love it to death. Not sure if Im would be that much of a fan of it as I am or him of Monster. By the end he likely would be impressed I hope. Those two are probably gonna dominate the poll and HxH is probably gonna be on top tbh since it's more popular but who knows. And HxH is 2 times longer so for Im's sake I guess it'd better to vote for Monster.

KotBegemot

Think he wants that timeslot to stay as a caught-up anime slot or for newer shows. He has some shows on his agenda he will likely check out on that timeslot

Sloopgamer

Might have to have vote for Monster since its shorter than Hunter X Hunter. I imagine regardless of who else is in the poll those will be the top two. Rather get to Monster now before committing to HxH. Even though i'm dying for a HxH reaction.

Trevor DeMarco

Will an anime replace Vinland Saga or is that day just going to remain open?

JoyBoy

Monster has been one of the most recommended shows for your channel and for good reason. Definitely gonna get my vote!

RaijinCloud

Yes, I'm all for something comedic as well. Kaguya would be a perfect fit. It's nice to watch something that you don't have to take seriously all the time. Not that there aren't serious moments or even arcs in these types of shows. JoJo also comes to mind with this, but it's nearing 200 episodes so it would be quite the commitment.

RaijinCloud

Really hoping that Monster wins

Reeko

My brain is telling me that HxH will win this but my heart so badly wants you to watch Monster. And this is coming from me, someone who actually has HxH higher than Monster on their top anime list. You will definitely enjoy both these series but I just know that Monster would be such a good fit for you! Looking forward to the results regardless!

Sacha

Omg i would LOVE hunterxhunter

Indra Villa

MONSTER PLEASE

Jafeth Díaz

Monster

T H

Hunter X Hunter!! The time is right, from one goat anime, to the next!

Timo

Glad to see longer shows are getting the twice a week treatment! Wish you could eventually do that for more shows as I think fewer shows on the channel twice a week is much much better than more shows on the channel but once a week.(eg:- LM Reactions style where they go through these same shows much quicker vs a channel like Blind Wave which takes many years) That way you go through shows quicker (1.5 yrs for HxH instead of 3) and maybe start to make more progress on that massive watchlist you have :) This is of course not considering movie reactions which are obviously one and done and don't have the months long commitment. You know, because in the end we unfortunately have limited lifespans and there is just so much wonderful art out there in the form of TV, anime, video games (movies too) that we can only hope to get through as much as we can (or want) during our time. And in your case, share that experience with people around the world through your videos, that transcend things like space and time and even lifespans.

Shiera Seastar

My personal test for if I'm going to recommend a comedy, or a rom-com, would be that if I know people who watched the show, didn't necessarily find the show gut-bustingly funnily all that often, but still really really enjoyed the show anyway. Imo Kaguya-Sama passes that test very comfortably. One of my favourites, and if you fancy checking out something a little more feel-good than your usual it'd be perhaps the first one I'd recommend, it's genuinely excellent.

A Toilet Duck

HUNTER X HUNTERRR

Meia-noite

Cast a vote! Its not such a serious matter

Raykel

2011 Hxh? I am so glad to see the 2 episodes a week schedule continuing. Seeing how far you have come with the output is really amazing. Thanks alot!

Raykel

Not actually seen any of these yet (all longstanding members of my "plan to watch" list), so probably gonna have to remain neutral on this one! Perhaps I'm rooting for Monster slightly, as that's the one of these that I'm more excited to watch myself, but can't in good conscience cast a vote based on that reasoning alone.

A Toilet Duck

HUNTER X HUNTER!!!!!!!

zeldro

It is actually very hard to choose between HxH and Monster... I want both lol

Ookisa

Surprised you didn't put another option to this poll prob cause you know ho popular these are

Sloopgamer

Monster 😃 Hajime no Ippo is awesome, too!

Saku

Monster W

adamadam63

I hope Ippo takes the W since it was my first and favorite sport anime, but I'm sure either Monster or HxH will take it since they are overall more popular and would probably do better on the channel. But still great shows no matter what goes through 🙂

Ck Otaku

also love is war it is hella popular, competes with shonen heavyweights when it comes to youtube views

Hmm hmu

I am hoping for monster, HxH is the goat but you will just finish a goat shonen in the form of FMAB anyways plus a great way to get onboard the urasawa train, inarguably one of the greatest mangakas

Hmm hmu

Use me as HxH option

Javier

I'm super excited for any of these but HxH has my vote!

Joseph

oh man great options from what i’ve heard. i’ve seen hunter x hunter and i’m sure you’d love it, but i’ve wanted to see monster so this would be a good excuse to start 😂 either way i can’t wait to see !!

AutomoTomto

Tough choice, I love HxH and Hajime no Ippo and I've heard great things about Monster

Gabriel Adrian Musngi

Just to be sure for hxh is this the 2011 version we're talking about ?

Hassan

Oof, these are all certified GOATS, but i would LOVE to see your take on Monster. Psychological crime/thrillers seem up your alley. The only real downside I see is that it almost certainly won't do that well on Youtube. For one, it's an older anime and secondly, it's not a mainstream battle shonen series :(

Polygon

Love is War is probably the best and relatable anime comedy you'll find. Most anime comedy doesn't hit for me but that show gets me every episode. And on top of that it excels in character drama.

Jak

Alright thanks. This is a hype list, cant wait to see you watch one of these.

Jak

Yep, that would be part of the next shorter Anime poll 👌🏼

FILMBuFF

I’m open to it, I’ve noticed that Japanese voice acting performances can really get a legitimate laugh out of me, so something that is just meant to be silly and comedic could be quite fun. Maybe I’ll try something off screen first.

FILMBuFF

That would be fun, variety would certainly draw new viewers in

Chelly

Does Steins;Gate count as one of the shorter anime?

Jak

This poll is specifically for longer Anime, so Monster finally comes into play. The eventual Eva replacement will be the shorter anime poll.

FILMBuFF

I feel like HxH should replace FMAB to keep the shounen scratch going. Monster would be a nice follow up to Neon Genesis.

Santiago

Although your channel focuses mostly on “serious/high quality” shows. I think it would be fun to try a more “silly” and “comedic” anime some time in the future. For example “Kaguya Sama” or “Spy x Family”. Just a thought! :) Maybe the majority of your viewers don’t agree with this.

Nemo

Hopefully Monster wins, that show needs way more love

Chelly

Wow! What a banger poll! I've seen HxH and Monster, so two outta three is a victory for me.

Leaky Peach

I love Hunter x Hunter and I haven't seen Monster yet. But I absolutely want to.

Ninaofthe90s

MONSTER LETS GO I CANT BELIEVE THIS

Abdulla Almheiri

What a stacked poll
