To me the rebuilds are just so different creatively, not only from the original series and movie but even from each other, what with over a decade passing by in between the first and fourth film's production. I'm not against Im checking them out, but I feel like jumping into it right after EoE would be a mistake (I'm also philosophically against considering 3.0+1.0 as "the true ending"). End of Evangelion was the conclusion for over 20 years and it's in my opinion way too soon to be making claims that the rebuilds are essential viewing, especially when EoE was considered the perfect conclusion for so long.

2023-07-29 12:19:05 +0000 UTCthis show is so challenging, it's truly one of those that i love more and more with every rewatch, and yet you rose to the task with this analysis. so good. i really cannot believe that i'm getting to rewatch my favourite show of all time with you--it's just the best content one could ask for. a small note--something i caught this rewatch is so many conversations in this show function on two levels; when people are talking about this sci-fi fantastical world of angels and evas in all the advanced and indecipherable technobabble, so often these conversations are also about the relationships between these characters. it's genuinely amazing how well this show makes the psychological and the sci-fi merge over one another.

2023-07-27 13:40:12 +0000 UTCI know its not confirmed, but i really hope you watch the rebuilds, they add a lot of info, and from end for Rebuild 2.0 is all new. Even if you dont want to watch all, at least check the end of 2.0 to understand what change and how, and if you like it you have 3.0 and 3.0+1.0 with the true ending.
