Namikawa Daisuke is his VA and someone you should definitely keep an eye (or in this case ear) out for him as he’s absolutely incredible and he’s the perfect Hisoka. Also he has probably my favourite character ost. (Although I’m now thinking of all the other character/s ost and there’s some big competition to come)

Hunter x Hunter my fav fighting shonen and at the same time the best manga adaption of all time imo. Yeah I personally don’t consider FMAB to be a fighting shonen I always connect it with more of an adventure series, don’t know, but still HxH is the better fighting shonen without question to me. The second best would prob go to JJK and CSM and only then I would go with OP. This series has my fav stretch of any media and also my fav episode of all time, so I’m so stoked rewatching this with you. It will be gooood! Also, hope you will let us get the reactions for the Eds cause they are more popular than the Ops in this series. The pkmn similarity to HxH is quite there, you‘re not the only one. I did notice it too and so did Eric from Blind Wave, he said the same thing after episode 1 haha Don’t know if someone mentioned it already but it seems like you love Leorio’s va but sadly he passed away some years ago. Now with this episode you finally saw some really cool chars. Rookie crusher funniest dude to have around and some other ones I will hold off for now. And just so you know the flower scene from Hisoka was a censored one. He cut his hands in the manga. The HxH time slot in these early episodes couldn’t allow to show such things like that. For this censoring reason some people prefer to watch the 99 version of HxH. The OP similarity is also unquestionable, funnily enough HxH manga started more or less together with OP at the same time but Togashi has many health issues and for that reason he does need many many breaks and at this point they are going for years. If he hadn’t these who knows where Hunter x Hunter would be by the present. One last thing Hisoka’s va also voices Kid from OP and Killua’s va voices Himeno from CSM and another one from OP but I don’t know if you’ve watched enough to know that char.

I haven't seen many people mention it but I personally have laughed, loled, or just giggled at many small silly things or character quirks or situations that do remind me of early childhood DB/Z and early OP as a teenager. HxH is easily a bingeable anime because it's pure FUN. It has that Pokemon x Naruto x Yu-Gi-Oh combination of intrigue, danger, adventure, darkness, and slice-of-life. Like you said tonal dissonance or whiplash. A bit sad because of your discussion length (hopefully it was just a side effect of Vinland Saga) but I love the early episodes so much and your discussion are so juicy.
