On Heckel; Got to say I agree with your assessment on him, in that, as much as I don't want to really defend the guy, I can't bring myself to see him as a villainous character either. He's a scoundrel for sure, but I can't say that he's irredeemable. And enter Akanbou, The Baby, just a groovy little dude hitting us with the Fortnite dances. In seriousness, he's an intriguing little fellow for sure, certainly got fair few things going on. As seems to almost always be the case with Nazi-type characters in media, we do get the obligatory on-the-nose bad-guy speech, which is why I think these sorts of guys are so often quite hit-or-miss as villains for me, however, fortunately we do get enough actual characterisation before then with The Baby to keep things interesting.

It was kinda inevitable that with a character design like Johan, the Kinderheim 511 stuff etc, this plot point was gunna come up. You’re quite right that it just depends on how well it’s handled. Extremists will always exist, and this world that Tenma has found himself in really isn’t that far fetched.

2023-09-04 13:16:04 +0000 UTCThe mood change from the last time we saw Tenma to now was expected but still hit hard, and I spent all of it worried about Nina, Tenma, Dieter and Heckel too lol, I agree Heckel sure is not a great person, certainly not the most moral but he isn't evil I do think there is a big difference. I too expected some nazism leftovers because of the time period but full on they are trying to make Hitlet 2.0 wasn't on my expectations.
