Full Length - Doctor Who | 9x11 "Heaven Sent"

Masterpiece.

The Reaction edit might be the most difficult one I've ever done for a DW video, really difficult to decide on what to leave in, and what to omit.

Been waiting for this reaction for years!

"burning the old me to make the new one" - an interesting question on the life expectency of Doctor Who?

Owen James McBrearty

This episode is Dr Who at its best, go so far to say one of the greatest hours of television ever made. As you said in the "man punches wall compilation (gone sad)" it's all aspects of filmmaking going at their finest.

Jason Hampton

easily my favourite who episode hands down

Same here, I wonder how many others are in the same boat. Plus Im has always been THE best reactor in the sphere so it's nice to give back a bit

Lionel Polanski

peak.

I think we've all been waiting for so long for you to get to this episode. Absolutely stellar work, still incredibly memorable even after 8 years since I watched it. So excited to see your review.

In my opinion this is the single greatest episode of Doctor Who of all time. The ending montage gives me chills with Murray Gold's score. And what a showcase of Peter Capaldi's sheer skill as an actor. Listen, I've seen every episode of this show. 39 seasons worth of television. Over a dozen actors in the role of the Doctor. And they're all amazing in their own right. But Peter Capaldi is the only one who could possibly have pulled this off.

I watched this episode when it first aired. I was only 15 then and my favorites were always the action-filled episodes. Subtler episodes tended to bore me a bit - even the great ones like The Girl in the Fireplace or Midnight. But even then I remember just sitting there afterward being completely floored by the masterpiece I'd just experienced. I just wanted to see more. It's stuck with me for all the years since and I've been waiting for you to reach it for years now. Can't wait to see the analysis.

I think many of us have been waiting for you to get here since you started! I'm just about to watch now but I knew your in depth analysis and understanding of content and love for quality writing and directing would be a good match here. Hyped!

The Kernewek Penguin

Have been waiting for YEARS for you to get to this, insane

George Greenacre

steven moffat penned a perfect portrayal and ode to grief..what real grief and loss feels like.. wandering through the pain and confusion alone ,every day the same as the last with the specter of death following you..year after year looking for a way out..like trying to punch your way through a diamond wall in hopes of making it through to the other side... rachel talalays vision and direction is remarkable and breathtaking...murry golds score is spectacular and the best work he's ever done...peter capaldi right where we always want him, center stage chewing scenery, hes absolutely stunning...as someone who has struggled with grief and loss most of my life watching 12 punch through that wall is more cathartic than any therapy session! just a masterpiece all around!! waited so long for this and it was worth it!! can't wait for the review...thank you ♡

As expected, your reaction to those last 20-15~ minutes ABSOLUTELY delivered. The build-up, the editing, direction, writing, PETER CAPALDI, Murray Gold's score, set, it's just unlike anything DW has done before. You really could only pull this off with Capaldi. This isn't just one of the best episodes of Doctor Who, this is one of the best episodes of a live action television series I've seen. Now to wait for the discussion which, judging from the FL, is gonna cook hard.

Oswin

Yep, I meant the 10 minute reaction portion edit, I’m still at it.

FILMBuFF

Also, not what I expected for thumbnail choice! But what a decision it must've been. The director for this episode, Rachel Talalay, is returning for the 60th anniversary btw 😁

tom

I'm excited. As for your caption, I know your standard is probably you like to keep things as condensed/tight as possible, but keep in mind not only is this probably the most critically popular episode of the show, but you have a fanbase that loves extended discussion. With those in mind, I think we'd love to hear as many of your thoughts on this show as possible. (though in re-reading, maybe you meant for the reaction)

tom

We made it guys.

Jack Mingle

holy shit the moment has arrived!! cannot wait to get home and enjoy this 30 mins from now ♡

Belinda

Cannot wait to watch this. Many of us have been following you for years to get to this exact episode.

Jak

Holy shit, we finally reached it
