Just got around to watching Pluto and remembered that you brought it up in this episode. By the sounds of it you will watch it in your own time which is fine but I do got to say I am really enjoying it. Wouldn't mind if you end up being able to do it for the channel though I won't be surprised if you have seen it already (Haven't caught up on your recent monster reactions, so sorry if you already clarified)

On your commentary about the workaholic stereotype that keeps poping off in the story, I would also point out that it's done exclusively on men. I feel there is a lot of commentary on gender norms and expectations simply through the realism of the characters and the period of the setting. I wonder if the author had a similar experience with his parents, and his father specifically.

I don't know why this episode made me so emotional in the end first time I watched it, maybe it's just too real? Having a son who murdered somebody tainting your reputation enough to quit the police force. Yet he still believes his son is a good person. Good people make bad decisions but that doesn't mean they are evil. Of course he would know Tenma was innocent but he was looking for every excuse to be wrong. I really like this episode, it's not very eventful but it's impactful nonetheless.
