Some baffling choices made in this episode. Direction wise, it's complete tonal whiplash, and doesn't have any flow at all. The only good thing I can say is some of the music choices are nice. But otherwise, it's shocking how bad it is, considering this is a really important episode. Also, the animation direction on this episode is very weak. Many of the characters look flat or off-model. Like during the scene where Gon and Palm were sitting together. It's just a waste of an episode. The action at the end had some better AD work, but the action was weak, but that's usual for this anime. It might have been outsourced due to the focus being placed on later epsidoes, which would explain the poor direction and AD work, I'll have to check the staff, but it's a shame, since this is a crucial episode. Story wise, I never really enjoyed the fact that it was an actual needle, not something psychological he needs to overcome, but I don't think I'm the only one.
