There is little that excites me more than the prospect of FilmBuff taking on the medium of comic books as well!!! I would love to hear your thoughts on panelling, writing, and layouts considering your close attention to art direction and frames in anime. Togashi is a master of artwork as well as writing and HxH is a truly special manga for it. There's also just incredible, incredible stuff in the manga after where the anime stops, that I would love to hear your takes on. Hearing you mention Berserk also just puts a huge smile on my face because, well, FilmBuff analysing one of the most influential manga of all time, and one of the greatest storytelling projects of the medium, would also just make my year.

This ongoing arc is so DENSE that a chapter can be adapted to a whole 20 min anime episode even without that dragged out pace! Doing a whole volume of it (10 chapters) would be very immense, and I think with your schedule taking it on little by little should be right for you! I am just so excited!!

In regards to the manga, I'd have to disagree about a new anime/or a new show starting in the next couple of years. While nobody knows when the current arc will end, it seems like the end of the arc would still be 70+ chapters away, which could take any amount of time considering the length and general consistency of Togashi's hiatuses. Regardless, if you do decide to read the manga, I think the english translation is slightly underwhelming in the early stages (the anime actually had more translators working on it, and imo, produced a much better result) but everything post-anime has been translated better. This doesn't mean I don't think you should read it (I absolutely do), but reading through the anime part of the manga might feel somewhat reductive (there are some differences but it's mostly similar to the anime).

2024-10-24 11:55:43 +0000 UTCReading the hxh manga has just been an absolute joy. Each of the newest chapters contains so much juicy information it takes me about an hour just to read those 19 pages. Would love to hear your thoughts as you read through. There is only one downside and it's a good downside. Togashi has been so consistent and seemingly in such high spirits and health, with the pace he's going at we are more likely to see the possibilities of an anime adaptation in the future. Still would be a few years out at the very least. We'll just have to see... Doesn't mean that you can't review both though!

I personally wouldn’t know how to do the manga justice in anime form, but I’m sure a team of talented animators will find a way

I don’t quite know what a “very good pure reactor” is, lol but it’s certainly not something I’ve claimed to be, or even aspired to be. Yep, Berserk was my first pick for a Manga review series. That’s a possibility in 2025, alongside HXH.

I normally wouldn't recommend it as the manga is quite dense and most reactors would probably lose interest or just not follow lol but I know that wouldn't be the case with Filmbuff! Really really wish it would get adapted into anime again eventually but it just seems so unlikely..so perhaps better to cave and just start the manga lol.

I haven't delved past c400 of the manga but you should read it from the beggining to get into the story proper then start reviewing new content on c340. I don't think you make a very good pure reactor especially manga could be trouble some but you could experiment. I'd like to see more editing or cutting back at least see your face while discussing the story to put your editing skills to test. Hopefully you can also get into Berserk that same way. I know you have the deluxe edition which are the black bibles of manga. It's really a phenomenal story with characters which served as groundwork for so many works of art and series. Epic story filled with so many themes, symbolism, and motifs. But at the core just realness and gritty like no other. If I had one manga rec it would be Tokyo Ghoul: psychological horror, tragedy, action. The anime adaptation is good only for 1st season with outstanding music (Yukata Yamada) but it falls off very hard after that. It got lots of hype back in the day but couldn't maintain it so it generated a lot of haters because Studio Pierrot absolutely destroyed everything the fans loved beyond recognition until its conclusion... that's why the manga is the only proper watch to watch it from the begginig. (Or after Season 1) I believe Sui Ishida's artstyle, characters, and subject matter could be to your liking because he is a master of his own craft.

In all honesty from all the mangas I've read I would say Berserk and HxH past anime content can give the most fantastic reactions/review content. I know that you are prob not willing to do manga reactions cause it is very different but if you eventually read the manga I think you will start to regret not doing reaction content to it😂😂 Simply doing reaction videos and uploading on yt would be indeed harder to do I think thats why I would go with streaming like some others already recommended it but I don't know how open your are to it netherless it would be insane. On the anime comeback the problem lies not that there is no content with the content available they could easily make 30-40 more episodes but there is no way of knowing it would ever continue and there is no good point to end a actual szn. I feel like everyone who ever worked on the anime and profited from it would be 100% down to make a continuation there are just to many variables that are staked against it. And there is a more obvious reason why it will most likely not come back but you will eventally see why so no point in telling you that. To the actual episode I never caught that Zeno was talking about Kumogi there I always thought he talked about almost killing Cheetu being his first time haha

But let me say that the manga reactions I have seen have been great. You could potentially stream it, if that's ever something you want to do. Great video as always.

2024-10-23 15:25:34 +0000 UTCWhen Gon says Killua's painful words in 116, his words are firm and unshakable but at the beginning of this episode, through Killua's perception, Gon's voice trembles and sounds miserably rather than with the intention of pushing away. They could have just inserted the same scene, but decided to re-sound it, so I find it very interesting. Killua's perspective is a reflection of what Gon really feels inside or is it Killua's attempt to convince himself that it's still Gon, he said it not because he wanted to hurt but because he felt too much and couldn't do otherwise? who knows

2024-10-23 12:37:29 +0000 UTCu realize not only are chapters mainly text now but its gonna be an anime where 80% of the dialogue would be inner monologues right? there will be barely any action so theyre gonna be stills from the manga with voice over. the manga will turn into an audio book, i dont see how any studio would agree to turn that arc into animation.

A break is definitely warranted but once you feel like it, I'd love to see you taking your hand at reviewing a different medium. One thing I wondered with Zeno bringing up to Silva about time compression on the dragon is that maybe that Zeno "interview" scene is a flash forward of him talking to Silva after the mission.

2024-10-23 12:09:44 +0000 UTCI don't see why it couldn't be adapted. Yeah, it's a behemoth of an arc but it can be done with enough resources and a good director. But we're probably only a third into the arc, a potential adaptation is not happening anytime soon.
