It's really incredible how well Togashi manages the tonal shifts in this arc, to go from the intensity and darkness of 116 to this, with the balance of incredible emotion and comedic value from Knuckle's near-death experience, all culminating in one of the most epic walk-ins of the anime with the new and improved Killua Zoldyck. Who would've thought a massive pit in the ground would make for such an incredible entrance? (On that note, kinda reminiscent to that incredible fight back in Yorknew City with Uvogin vs the mafia, and the clutch mysterious play by Kurapika) Another note is, something incredible about this arc that I think you teased out with Youpi's err, big explosion, and now with Knuckle's realisation of his brotherly love for Shoot is that there's something very intimate? I don't want to say erotic but definitely something romantic about the character's realisations that they come to in these fights. That release that you talk about--the sheer intensity of their feeling--it's truly something quite moving in how romantic it is!

I really appreciate the change in voicing out some thoughts mid-episode! Sometimes you can capture a lot in a quick observation and it helps me look out for that point when you return to it in the longer analysis portion. Overall makes the reaction portion feel a lot more exciting to watch as well :)

Knuckle my GOAT! Agreed the voice acting was amazing. So glad the anime did Togashi justice with the presentation and art for the palace invasion :)

I understand not doing reactions to something lik Jojo's, but i'd enjoy something like a video essay after each part. I think Merphy Napier is doing something similair Of course, if you're just looking to unwind and have a fun time feel free to ignore my comment!

C&C

Absolutely 👌🏼 I think Takagi’s voice work is so integral in nailing that balance here

Sometimes the episodes dictate the flow and length of the post episode coverage. This episode was one of those really entertaining and engaging episodes, but a lot of the things that are taking place were straightforward, for the most part. Like the Ikalgo segment, it takes up a decent chunk of the episode, and it’s great, but quite straightforward. Also, there’s probably a noticeable change in the actual reaction portion. I’m sure many have noticed over the last year or so, I’m more vocal about my thoughts in the middle of the episode as well. Initially this shift was because of time issues, but it kinda stuck. Actually, thinking back to it, me being more vocal during the reaction portion started with AoT Season 4 Part 2

FILMBuFF

How exciting, all three are on my watchlist 🙌🏼

FILMBuFF

Music to my ears, I plan on starting Jojo off screen soonish

FILMBuFF

That makes me even more excited for it! been on my watch list for a while

FILMBuFF

Looking forward to seeing those myself 👌🏼

The homie Cheetu, gone but never forgotten 🫡

FILMBuFF

The fact that Cheetu actually helped Morel out is hilarious.

I think about the sleep morel got in cheetu's dimension and realize it was very valuable. 35/100 may have been 15/100 or worse

Wataru Takagi, voice actor of Knuckle, known for many of his legendary roles. My favorites are Nijimura Okuyasu (Jjba Diamond is Unbreakable), Great Teacher Onizuka and Aoki Masaru from one of my personal favorite stories, Hajime no Ippo. His voice reaally gets to shine in this one, and I doubt anyone has any complaints about that.

Those detailed shots... yup those are togashi's beautiful manga panel art

I'd recommend the first episode of GTO to see more from Knuckle's voice actor. phenomenal va, especially in comedy.

Casper smith

I know you have always long discussions but I was always interested to see how you will handle these kind of episodes in the palace invasion stretch were a lot of stuff is happening but at the same time it's harder to talk about it. So in my expectations I'm not surprised these episodes have a smaller discussion components. I love the scale of this stretch every character gets to shine and has a moment even if their abilities and individual moments are not as strong or intricinate as others or don't even matter much to the overall plot

Sloopgamer

So many unique looking frames in this episode, really nice to see them during the discussion. I love the comedic tone with Knuckle in this tense situation. Seems like a difficult tone to balance but felt like they executed it well here.

Great choice of thumbnails recently, loving the composition
