btw, if you can recall the little ball catching game netero played with gon and killua, he barely used his right arm and left leg, and he beat them. Now, he beats meruem without his left arm and right leg. Also, meruem kinda said the same thing the same thing as gon said to netero: "now, im gonna make you use your right arm" his version was: "now, im gonna take your left arm"
god togashi is so goated.

That discussion was as expected great. The comparison bewteen cell and meruem, The fallout of the bomb, yupi and pouf coming in, that you mention the vice chairman( I think no one ever does that at that moment).
And if you will read the manga if you would do a reaction reading it I would be there 100%.

Yay! I finally became a patreon!
I'm glad you remembered Gon and Killua's ball game with the Chairman. In that game, he refused to use his right hand and left leg, the same two limbs Meruem got him to rely solely on until the end.
It's funny that you brought up wanting that tapestry panel as a wallpaper because I set that as mine a few weeks ago in anticipation of this reaction. There is a pretty good one on Wallpaper Engine I use on my 4k monitor. Idk if Patreon will let me send a link but here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2083234012
Fantastic discussion as always!

Loved the post episode talk. Through your reaction it felt like I was watching the episode again for the first time.
I never considered the romanticism of Meruem's speech and the irony of him being heavy composed of human DNA, I really love the layer that adds to things.
Togashi showing that not only was the pinnacle of nen weaker than a nuke, but rubbing it in and adding it being a small cheap nuke, felt like a nihilistic gut punch.
I wish I could buy an animation cel from this episode!

Farewell to my all-time favourite character. Netero doesn't have alot of screen time but it's incredible what Togashi achieved with that character.

I'm surprised you mentioned Genthru since I was about to refer to him but yes his ability is called Little Flower so it seems very likely that he was inspired by the Miniature Rose, which is very cool!
Amazing discussion, you said it all, both Togashi and the anime studio had their pen on fire when writing/drawing this section for sure lol. Let's see what lies beyond ;)

Meruem being called a romantic is funny and accurate lol. he’s still in many ways a newborn, and his speech was a testament to the vast difference in experience between him and netero. I can see how it can come off high-horsey, though to me it just shows his age. There was no world he wouldn’t be shaken by the lesson of human cruelty. it’s a scare I think even we can relate with

This is how anime battles are done. One of the best fights ever, it has so many layers and all aspects like production - writing - characters... are top notch

great discussion as expected! This episode really brings us back to reality and establishes that this world is essentially the same as modern earth (re: society, technology etc.). So much more still to look forward to, and I'm glad you mentioned reading the manga, we're at an amazing point right now, and Togashi has been much more consistent recently.
