My favourite episode of any piece of fiction I've seen so far in my life.

BrokenArrow

I LOVE YOUR REACTION THE MOST IN GENRS OF ANIME ATLEAST AND FOLLWING YOU SINCE 3 YEAR ON YOUTUBE AND RECENTLY JOIND YOUR PATREON MEMBERSHIP AND HOPE TO EXPLORE MORE THOUGHTS PROCESS OF YOUR HERE.

Chl Chal

One of the roughest episodes of any show anime or whatever.

SwordAndSavior

The ost that played as Pouf died is an unreleased version of "Legend of the Martial Artist" for flute. This episode also features the brass intro for "Elegy of the Dynast" which is absolutely stunning. Honestly, you might love LoTGH.

Dominic

It's always at the end of each episode. Usually there's a cut to commercial and then the preview plays. So if you watched the episode live, you would have just cut to commercial after the final scene before the preview.

Dominic

The dialogue with this episode only becomes richer the more you come back to it. Meruem thought he would win and die alone but Komugi affirms she will stay by his side. "She reversed my reversal!"

Dominic

Yeah what a fantastic episode. It is insane how well Togashi crafted Meruem. Generally every character fits so well it's baffling. Meruem is in my top 10 animanga antagonists and I don't think he will be leaving that top 10 for a very very long time maybe never. Poufs ending is also very depressing. My fav thing from episode though is the beautiful quote from Diego. That quote encapsulates perfectly of what Togashi thinks about what a fulfilling life is with everything the ca arc taught us about the capability of humans including knowing he himself has a lot of health issues and not the time prob to write everything like he wants to. Def one of my fav endings of an arc ever

Sloopgamer

Also I know you stopped it but were you super like blindsided by the end credit music just immediately ruining that final sad moment? So many reactors are bawling their eyes out and then the end music comes on 😂😂😂

Aflo

An enthralling ending to a captivating character arc. Those last few moments of the episode felt like reading the last page of a good book. And then getting zapped with a cattle prong immediately after. Beautiful.

Eugene

Beautiful. Top 3 episode of the series. The Diego reveal is so good lol. Meruem and Komugi’s last moments are so special, I’m glad you were able to witness it!

Jay

I think it is completely wild that you made the connection that killing Peggy was a vital mistake that meruem unknowingly did. It is of course correct but it is crazy that you clocked it quite fast

My favorite episode!!! 135 moved me so much when I first saw it, and continues to move me every time I have a chance to rewatch this series on my own or with reactors. Probably the best conclusion I've seen to any character, arc or just any media in general honestly. As others have as well, I'd also like to recommend this video by Dougurasufilm that beautifully goes over the connections between the Gungi matches and the events that take place in this arc. Of course it's his interpretation of it all but I feel like it's pretty spot on, and a great watch regardless. Here's the link if you'd like to see it: https://youtu.be/ZsnlF_x4v8Y Thank you outstanding reaction and analysis, goat.

Ryuoz

That preview thing was ridiculous I completely forgot about it lol, probably was put in there because of a new arc starting in the next episode

Zer0

Lmaooo, 100% agree on the preview thing, diabolical indeed

Project Mayhem

This episode facilitates the Chimera ant arc as the goat. Just incredible stuff all around. I know a lot of people dont like it because it's "too long" but you can't have a good conclusion without a solid buildup, in the hands of a competent writter that it. However, the curent manga arc has a chance to surpass it imo. I hope that you will give the manga a chance in the future.

Abram

The inclusion of a (real) Diego is the last thing I ever expected. Totally unnecessary and I absolutely loved it.

Ryan

The happy music jump scare gets us all lol

Jonathan baez

Great I’m ready to cry, such a beautiful episode 🥲

Aflo

A top 3 episode in the series for me! Meruem truly had one of the greatest arcs for an antagonist I've seen in anime. This show and Togashi's writing style subverted my expectations constantly during my first watch-through. Never would I have guessed after all the previous Shonens I watched that the MC would not only never fight the king but wouldn't even have an interaction with him. Nor would I ever thought that Meruem would would die the way he did along side a human he loved. Idk, if this interests you, but there's a YouTuber I like who's made several great short videos on the CA arc. One of which is an interpretation of how Gungi connects to the arc as a whole. I double-checked, there are no spoilers if you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsnlF_x4v8Y&t=317s&ab_channel=Dougurasufilm Thanks for the great reaction & discussion!

I’m so sad that I don’t have enough time to write long comments anymore because there’s so much i want to say but I will just say this. Back when these episodes were coming out weekly i remember there was so much hate for Pouf to the point where some people were unironically saying that he was badly written. So seeing your reaction to him when he was first introduced and then seeing how much you enjoyed him during the Palace invasion and all the discussion about his character really makes me feel vindicated lol. No for real though he is a character that can be a bit challenging to enjoy so i understand why he wasn’t very popular but in recent years I feel like he’s been getting a lot more appreciation as genuinely one of the best villains in HxH or even in anime in general (tho i admit i don’t really think of him as a villain). Personally I feel like Pouf has the saddest death in HxH not only in the way he died, dragging himself till his last breath with tears in his eyes but just the realization that he came to in 134 that he had kept his King from seeing the most important person to him. The person that he was born to be with. i can’t imagine what his final moments felt like the agony both physically but even more mentally.

Kara the gamer girl from Mars

sir,I'm not sure if you already know this, but Togashi has turned the gungi into an actual playable board game in real life. I'm not sure where to buy it, but such a thing does exist now. I apologize for my poor English.

PYROMANIA .

The goat episode with the goat reactor.

Natteee

I am a pretty superficial viewer of media. There is a bunch of stuff I didn’t pick up on watching the first time. I enjoy these deep dives cause It gives me words to why certain scenes move me so much.

Karheem bamboo

I am always amazed at Togashi’s writing and how each character just works, not only functionally but also in how they make us feel.

Aaron Izaguirre

I remember boohoo crying at the end of this episode

Karheem bamboo

Finally my favourite episode and the highest rated on imdb i believe. A great morning to wake up to

Abdinur Hussein

The greatest episode of HxH--the tragic ending of a collision between two life forms, human and ant, that ends with both cruel devastation and unspeakably beautiful love. Absolute cinema

We’re here! My favorite episode from HxH. The episode that touched me the most deeply — and not for a lack of touching episodes. Meruem and Komugi may have lived limited lives, but they got to experience love, this kind of love. I’m happy for them because of that, and grateful that, like Palm, I was able to witness this beautiful moment.
