How does animating work?

Hello my Patrons :)

It’s Sundays and I thought, why don´t I post a quick Update for you all, or more like why don’t I show you how I do it. I almost finished a major growth scene, just the Background and of course the Sound is missing. You can’t believe how much time this took me to do. Drawing a full upper body growth with facial expressions is probably the hardest thing to do. The animation needs to look fluently but it also needs to catch all the muscles interaction with the growth. Also the Face needs to show emotions, and that’s pretty hard.

So you are probably wondering how I do it? (Or you already know it because you looked up on the Internet lol)

The picture I posted shows you a glimpse on what I need to do that the frames will form a good Animation. I normally draw Frame 1 first and after that I move to Frame 3. Then I activate the Onion Skin (this tool shows me what comes before and what comes after the frame I am currently working on). Now I know what Frame 2 must look like to match Frame 1 and 3. This goes on and on and on etc. until the Animation starts to move.  After I finished every Frame, I start the colouring. This is also done for every single frame. Also I need to include the shades and think about where under the shirt needs to be a bulging muscle which might be visible.

After all the colouring is done I add the Background (easiest part of all). And here we are a finished Animation.

Without your support I would have probably quit by now, so thank you very much for your help and patience.

Also the Animation Patrons will get a full finished GIF.

Enjoy your Sunday and I see you at the next Update :)
