A Message from the Human Behind the Mods

I’ve removed early access from updates that are crucial (broken from updates) because the negativity got to the point where people were calling me things like a “parasite,” and I want to be honest... that hurt. I’m not a multimillion-dollar company with a huge team. I’m just one person putting in time and energy to keep these mods alive and updated for the community.
Early access was only ever meant to support the work I do, and nothing has ever been permanently paywalled. But the way some people chose to act over something that was meant to be a middle ground was really disappointing.
From now on, crucial updates for pre-existing mods will be free right away. I just hope moving forward, people can remember there’s a real human behind this, doing their best.

I'm sorry for the words that has caused you pain. There is never a valid reason for such disrespect. You are an excellent creator that takes time and effort to share with the rest of us gamers. Unfortunately, there will always be few people that because they might feel entitled to cc contents and mods they forget that behind the computer or any electronic screen there is a human being that has a professional and personal life outside of any games. At the end of the day a game is just a game. To those people that has nothing better to do with their time other than be disrespectful please just move on and don't let the door hit you on your way out. And Jellypaws please don't give to those people a penny of your thoughts and do as you wish and keep being you.

And honestly yall deserve more credit. EA has a whole team behind them and they can't give us the content we want but you CC creators are heaven sent. I’m not trying to take away from the work you put in, but the sims community is like the only community that has this issue. I think people shouldn’t have to pay for updates. All it does is give people a reason not to trust cc creators and to put negativity in their minds. Hate that people are being rude though

Also the fact that these are yours and you do not even have to share them. I do understand that if you had early access on a previous mod and then a patch broke it...the fix should of course not be paywalled BUT it is never that intense to make someone feel so sad. I always lead with kindness and grace and communication. I wish you peace and so much love! Keep being the lovely person you are!

Content updates that are ongoing and adding new features are always paywalled. All the big creators do it this way and there is no reason you can’t do it as well. It’s normal. Putting the crucial updates behind a paywall is not normal and I was definitely sad when I read that post because that was how I took it. Having to wait a month to play my save because removing the mods would also remove all of their data would suck and I’m glad that’s not going to happen. You keep your content updates early access regardless of if anyone complains. Point them to all of the top creators who do exactly the same thing. This practice is 100% acceptable and no one should be complaining about that. 💁🏼♀️

2025-08-23 22:23:41 +0000 UTCi found your mods while searching for better gameplay, its completely understandable to do early access for some mods and updates. the community has sadly ruined this concept by making various cc and mods locked behind a paywall, so to have this be a huge extent is deeply devastating. i dont mind waiting 2 or 3 weeks, since it is a one person job to maintain. im sorry this is the type of feedback you've been receiving, we all appreciate your hard work and dedication.

I agree with most people here that key updates to broken mods shouldn't be paywalled, but I don't mind waiting. Unfortunately, I can't support you financially, I can't support any modder (although in my opinion most of you deserve real payment), because I'm broke, so I realize that I have to wait until the modifications become public, and I appreciate that after some time they do become public. 2025-08-23 21:08:19 +0000 UTCI agree updates to mods broken by a patch shouldn't be re-paywalled if it went public, as it feels like pulling a public mod back behind a paywall. That being said, I think its perfectly fair to TAKE YOUR TIME, the name calling was unfair and unnecessary and I'm sorry you experienced that. Please be fair to yourself and feel free to not rush yourself just because a game update came out. I had to drop a lot of patreon support because they neutered my hours at work, but I don't feel entitled to anyone's mods (worse comes to worse I just have to remove them and play without them) and I certainly think waiting a tad longer for an update to a free mod is fair. I usually expect it might take up to two weeks to feel comfy playing with my full mod list again. And sometimes it takes even longer. Also, while I can't give any constant support right now, I am open to one time donations when I have it. Like a Ko-fi if you want to open up that option

2025-08-23 20:32:43 +0000 UTCI'm someone who agrees that a mod out of Early Access should have crucial updates released right away - but you made an extremely fair point that updates take just as much time and effort on your part, therefore that should've been the end of it. You made your position clear, acknowledged the feedback you were receiving, set a boundary and communicated. At that point anyone who disagreed should just remove the mod from their folder for the time being. I didn't comment on any of this before, but I did like a couple of comments on the release post that were politely expressing disagreement - I didn't see any comments that were rude, but I still feel extremely guilty for even liking those I did and I apologize if those amounted to the disrespect and hurt you felt. Never did I think people would get upset. I read your post, shrugged, said "fair" and removed your mods until I can enjoy them in a couple weeks. No big deal. But I apologize if any comment I hearted had a negative connotation and if any of that was hurtful to you. I didn't know people would be so entitled and rude and I apologize for my part on it. I'm glad there's so many nice comments on this one and I hope there's 4x the love for you here. Going forward, a suggestion would maybe to have Early Access for maybe just 1 week? Or even Ko-Fi support for one-time support? I'm not sure how Patreon works with that, I'm just a lurker and I even download from my e-mail inbox unless I don't understand something. But I'm so sorry for what happened, you didn't deserve any rude comments at all. Heck, after this, leave the EA (ha.) up until December after their behaviour. Sending love ♥️

We as simmers should be so thankful/ grateful! to the many out there who have taken time to work on something that, for us, is perhaps more of luxury if we have computers, time, and money to invest into an intricate game like the sims. You are not a parasite if you ask for a little support and also, still, provide it for free, just people have to wait. There are creators out there that are trying to make loads of money off a game they didn't make, capitalizing off ppl simply wanting to add some pizazz in their game. (That I can not abide by, because there are many other ways to make money off of 3D work and coding, don't drain a group of everyday gamers.) What you are doing is very generous and we appreciate all your hard work and hope you'll leave up early access, though I also understand if you do not to choose to. -Best

2025-08-23 18:07:34 +0000 UTCAs someone who is against perma-paywalls, I don't see an issue with early access as long as it is within a reasonable time-frame (normally up to a month seems fairly reasonable). I've been following you for awhile and I've never seen an issue with your early access time frames. I love your work so much. I just hope you don't feel discouraged because of some people. There are people here who really love what you do! Sometimes the sims community can be really toxic unfortunately.

If they can't be patient and understand that fixing mods can be just as difficult as making them, then they can go away. Delete their comments, block them, do whatever you have to do. You need a way to support yourself in life and if putting up a TEMPORARY. PAYWALL. is one way you can do it without selling your soul to the corporate industry, then please put the paywall back up. It's literally just a game and these people are chronically online and don't understand what kind of people are actually parasites, and you are not a parasite.

All they had to do was put their game in offline mode and not update knowing that update was coming out 😒. I don’t understand the entitlement a lot of people have because they don’t have to play with mods, it’s THEIR choice to not play vanilla mode. I pay for a lot of my favorite modders because I want my mods early when an update/patch. If folks don’t like the early access option, go find the free modders. Patreon members want to support their CC creators and those creators aren’t violating the rules when they put their content behind a TEMPORARY paywall and give access to the public weeks later. Put that paywall back up if you need to JellyPaws 🥳!

Although while I don’t see a problem with having paywalled early access I agree that an update made for a broken mod that already had early access and was released to the public shouldn’t be put behind it. I appreciate all creators and I believe they should earn what they deserve for their content but let’s be reasonable. Hopefully this doesn’t become a common trend in the modding community, because while early access for new content makes sense as a way to support creators, putting fixes for existing mods behind a paywall creates a different issue. People already had access to that mod, so updates after new game version feel less like a bonus and more like a necessity to keep it working. If those get locked away, it risks creating frustration and division, even if the intent was just to reward supporters. Supporting creators is important, but it works best when the model strengthens trust and keeps the community open rather than adding barriers.

People are always going to find a way to try and tear down other people simply because they’re not getting things how they want and feel they are entitled to! It’s okay to want to support yourself, it’s a hard world out here. I'm sorry to say that people like that ignore the fact you're human on purpose, they lash out cruelty cause they're looking for a weakness to exploit to get their way. Don't give them one. Keep your early access, love. You're a saint in this community making wonderful content for our game FOR FREE. This is one of the ways that those of us who want to do more to support you can do so. Please don't let them bully you into removing it just because they're entitled. You have made my game way better for years and I would like the option to buy you a coffee sometime, since I'm somewhere across the world the early access is my only option to do so. I’m so sorry that people are treating you this way. It’s truly ridiculous. I know many people are struggling for money these days and I’m in the same boat. Having to wait for an update is not the end of the world and is a great compromise for getting to benefit from someone else’s hard work. I know you do this for the love of the game but you’re still a human being with only 24 hours in a day and bills to pay.

Wickedwhims, basemental, slice of life, etc. have all been put behind early access (that lasts wayyy too long sadly) for their updates and additions.
