Narrative

Life in the deep farmlands was never easy. Between the stiffling of bad weathers, the pressure of taxes, and the recurring devastations brought by monsters, peasants always had to keep a close eye to the income of their household. In desperate times, supernumerary children couldn't be kept. Mothers and fathers had to resort to extreme measures to keep the rest of their family safe and fed. Local peasants took the habit of abandonning unwanted children near this great mapple at the heart of the forest. The Archfey Erèm would take them in her court, care for them, without burdening their already weighed down family.

Local necromancers smelled something else though. The opportunity of an endless stream of young and malleable apprentices. They corrupted the mapple to act as a beacon for spheres beneath our own. Demons would fly down, seize the young ones in their claws and bring them to the conclave for darker needs. For weeks now, the mapple ceased to be a symbol of protection and became the entry point of something else in our world, as twisted creatures now crawl from its roots to invade the nearby farms.
