Narrative

For days he stumbled amidst the windswept dunes of this now dead sea. One night, his half-crazed eyes met the curious vestiges of a long forgotten structure. Shattered pillars of black onyx reflected the pallid moonlight. Beyond opened the gaping maw of a tenebrous cavern. He could hear the abyss calling him forth. Was this the voice he heard in his desperation years ago ? Filled with curiosity and dread, he pressed forward. There, the unearthly glow of the mind-shattering runes carved upon the black stone caught his sight. He was paralysed. Images of a long gone past filled with sea monsters and gigantic sea shells appeared in his psyche, twisting and changing like sand in the wind. He could see the stars, he could read any languages, he could understand what lay bare on the hidden face of the moon. Something cracked in him. Some deeper, more secret, part of his intellect broke that night. In the end, all he could do was flee, uttering nonsensical prophecies.
