Brienne is no doubt a good fighter, but to give Jaimie some grace; he was malnourished, weak, tired and still tied up yet posed a decent threat nonetheless.

Lady olenna realized in this ep that renly is wrong in his claim lol. But I’m pretty sure the Tyrell’s just sided with renly because stannis is an idiot who holds grudges. Stannis probably would’ve tried to get revenge on the Tyrell’s for surrounding him during Robert’s rebellion if he became king. It’s why Varys and Baelish didn’t want him either. Stannis doesn’t know when to stop. With him as king, he’d try and fight Robb for claiming independence, he’d go to war with the Lannisters for Cersei committing incest, and he’d execute Baelish and the rest of the small council.
