Itch.Io and public alphas update!
Added 2022-06-11 22:15:11 +0000 UTCUpdate: Some changes were made to clarify some small changes on the way the public builds will work, TLDR: Alphas will be released every three months or so on itch.io, I'll be uploading the alphas, not in order but instead I'll be jumping some versions until it reaches to a point where the current public build is only five versions apart instead of 14 versions. And patrons will receive alphas every month while the public will receive every three to four months, and they will always get alphas that are five versions apart after a good time (I'll be skipping five to six versions every release or so for them until we get to the 5 versions apart).
Hello, there my lovely patrons, how are you all doing? I'm fine, thank you for your concern.
While I'm working on the next alpha, I decided it's time to start updating itch.io content from now on, we have a LOT of alphas here gathering dust, and since it's quite hard to just create versions for the public, I decided months ago I would just stockpile the alphas after the release of the Demo of the game, and once I had a good number, I would start releasing the alphas on itch.io as a way to give the public more content to see. That, hopefully, will also bring more people to be interested in the game and in this project and maybe that will bring more patrons here.
So this is how it'll work:
- I will release one alpha on itch.io every few months apart after releasing some alphas here on Patreon, the version for the public, for now, are 14 numbers before the current alpha, however, I'll be skipping a few alphas each public release until the number goes up to 5 versions apart. After that, every public release will be released 5 builds apart from each other.
- It is impossible for older alphas to send or suggest corrections, but from now on, any new alpha will change the internal code that makes sure only the most current released alpha can send suggestions, and not only the newest alpha with new text into it.
- Once this game gets closer to version 1.0, I will stop giving public alphas on ItchIo, and instead, I'll start checking on how to add the game on Steam or another platform for people to buy at a cheap price. However, once the game is closer to completion, the closed alphas will also stop happening here on Patreon, and a new project will start. This last option may change in the future (All current and older patrons that contributed to the creation of this game will receive the free 1.0 copy of the game both from here in a post and in their private e-mail with a download link or something I dunno yet).
- The alpha released on itch.io will NEVER be the same as you guys here, even months from now in the future, the closes the public alpha will get from you guys here are five versions apart. Not only that, alphas will be released every three to four months on itch.io while you guys will get alphas every month.
I don't know if this will bear fruit or not, but that's what other visual novels do, and as you all know, I work on this project alone, money is scarce nowadays and of course, I need more to invest in this game, or I will have to eventually get a regular job and knowing the weird situation my country is right now, I don't think I would be able to work every day on this game. I may be a perfectionist, but I try my best to deliver the best content, which means I'm always reviewing what I write and constantly re-writing it until it gets good enough for me. And frankly, after combing through days 0 to 2 on the game's files I found a lot of places where I wanted to outright change the entire sequence but I decided just to fix the major issues instead. That's how I work, so I do spend a lot of my time working on this game. I can only thank you guys for allowing me to do so, it's thanks to your help and support, and kind words too that I can continue working on this game, as fast as possible, and I'm sure that once we get more people here helping and supporting the project I'll be able to bring more and more content, especially in the form of new art, which it's kinda hard to get, saving money and getting the art pieces are expensive after all.
But you all are awesome, so thank you all for supporting me. I hope you guys are enjoying the current alpha's changes, there's a lot of stuff I've done on Karnal routes, so please check that out.
This month's schedule is:
Releasing the script files for tier 3 and 4 patrons.
Release the Alpha a few days after that.
And if any new artwork or sketches are done, add them to their respective tiers with the time-lapses for them. But I can't guarantee too much on that topic since it's out of my control.
For now, I really hope you all can keep helping support this project, and let's hope this new array of updates on itch.io will help the project grow, right?
Thank you all for your time and support, and until the next time, I'll come here to give you more stuff to play with!
