Making of "Charming Company"

My husband came up with this one while he was watching me shovel food into my face. I wish I could blame eating fast on becoming a mom, but I've always had terrible table manners!
I don't actually like spaghetti and meatballs (*hate* tomatoes in all their forms!) but it's a classic messy food, so I used it for the strip. I think I was eating a sub at the time.
I originally had the dad smiling at the mom at the end. I liked the sentiment, but preferred the juxtaposition of her grossness with his refinement.
After looking at my sketches, my husband said that to really make it authentic, I needed to have her literally shoving food into her mouth with a hand. I'm so charming! :D
