Making of "Magic Word"
Added 2019-08-21 15:00:03 +0000 UTCMy 2yo randomly came out with this one the other day and I figured it could make a relatable (and hopefully quick!) comic.
I knew the joke would really be in their expressions, so the biggest challenge was positioning them so you could see both faces. I tried to make the 1st row all one panel, but the angle was a bit weird, so I broke it up into 2 panels.
As the comic came together I became less confident about it's funniness, so I tried propping it up with a couple of Easter eggs.
1) The bowl isn't completely empty when he starts meowing for more, which is a common cat AND kid problem! A human mom will usually point this out, but I figured a cat mom wouldn't actually "see" an issue and just fill up the bowl.
2) I spoofed the Trix box, mixing it up with Friskies cat food:
I still wasn't 100% happy with how this strip came out, but I already had my eyes set on the next comic, so I needed to move on.
