Making of "Of Course He Did."
Added 2019-09-13 01:19:56 +0000 UTCThis one started with something my 5yo's teacher said. I was totally setting myself up to apologize and then she followed up with the "punchline" and we both shared a chuckle. Thank goodness for teachers with a sense of humor! :)
I started setting it up the same way for the comic, but J suggested it might be funnier with the teacher oblivious to Fran and Vincent laughing. So many of the strips end with them at odds, I jumped at the chance to have them smiling instead.
I hadn't drawn the owl teacher since the redesign, so it gave me an excuse to rework her. I experimented with some different owl species, but kept coming back to a barn owl. The dress is inspired by this cute dress facebook keeps trying to sell me. I see it in my feed and always think "If I was a teacher I'd wear that dress!"
I was trying to keep the background simple, but I wasn't happy with either the flat purple or the teal. I added some school things and made the outlines lighter to keep them faded into the background.
