Making of "The Lies - Part 2"

They went to Scotland on vacation when he was little, but his parents found that Loch Ness was a pretty long drive and couldn't be arsed to go, so they just told him the pond outside the hotel was Loch Ness. Every time he turned away, his Dad would point and say he'd *just* missed the monster. It wasn't until he was much older that J discovered he hadn't even BEEN to Loch Ness! π€£
I hadn't actually figured out what Grampaw Cat would look like when I first sketched this out, so he was just a Dad Cat clone on the 1st pass.
After I drew out the rough sketches, it suddenly dawned on me that people would be clamoring to get a good look at Grampaw Cat! It was never my intention to hide him any longer, the drama was just calling for some odd angles. I readjusted to make sure there was a big satisfying look at him. Having the responsibility of a cliffhanger is hard!
You might notice that in the 2nd to last panel, Dad Cat is talking about a pet called "Muffins". When J was giving the strip one last read, he was trying to think of a less "catish" pet name -then it hit him that of course THEY are cats, so maybe THEY'RE the ones that get sent to "The Farm"! He switched it to "Grandma" for an extra punch and then we made Grampaw's face in the last panel much more grim to match.
